Apple get city go ahead for new iHeadquarters

Cupertino City Major has given his full support for Apple's new campus in the city. Gilbert Wong said “Cupertino is ready for this.”

KitGuru reported on this a few days ago and Steve Jobs will be very happy that his plans can go ahead. Their new building will be able to hold 12,000 employees. The current HQ can only hold 2,800 employees which is forcing the company to hire out other buildings throughout the city. Apple do own a 92 acre area of land which they purchased from Hewlett-Packard. The company plans to build their new circular complex here, which Jobs has said is similar to a spaceship.

The project is still in the early stages of development and it has various other stages to be approved before construction will begin. In a press conference Wong said that the project will be reviewed just like any other building proposal. They will also make a study on the environmental ramifications before approving. Apple cleverly have said that they will increase the tree count in the lot by 60 percent, as well as increasing other landscaping by 350 percent. If they get a successful final approval then Wong said Apple can start submitting building permits with it being completed by 2015.

Wong added “It is a major project. It's going to look like something similar to like the Pentagon. And this is something that's not going to be built overnight, but we're ready to accommodate.”
