How 4G will shape our lives

On Tuesday 21st February, OFCOM’s much anticipated auction of 4G mobile spectrum raised £2.34 billion – more than 1 billion less than predicted. This will have important consequences for George Obsorne’s budget, but how will increased proliferation of 4G impact the way that we use the technology that has become such an important part of our lives?

As research by Halifax reveals that three-quarters of the population would struggle to go for just one day without gadgets such as smartphones, Claire Galbois-Alcaix of Mozy, leading provider of data access and backup solutions, looks at how 4G will shape our expectations of technology and the role that it plays in our lives.

Claire comments: “4G signals a content revolution. We are now moving towards a time when it is possible to stream files from the internet as fast as we can access them from devices themselves. This will fundamentally change the way we purchase and use technology, diminishing the power of increased storage to boost device prices, ushering in an era of the single, multi-use device. ”
