Windows Phone to enhance gaming capabilities

According to insider information Microsoft are going to be announcing a new raft of games for their flagging Windows Phone 7 platform at the E3 conference. The company have been working overtime to support developers and to entice a wider audience to adopt their latest mobile platform.

One of Microsoft's strengths has always been in supporting gaming. Windows 7 is widely adopted by gamers for a combination of Direct X performance and wide support from developers. Microsoft want to mirror the desktop OS success across to the smartphone sector. If they put a lot of effort and resources into it, they could very well become the platform of choice for mobile gaming.

Verifying these reports, Ska Studios, an independent game developer for The Xbox 360 platform have said that there will be a ‘mysterious' surprise in store for gamers at the E3 conference.

Additionally, Microsoft are set to detail new capabilities for the platform, including a new ability to control Xbox 360 titles from Windows Phone 7. This is not breaking news as they announced the features at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, earlier this year.

KitGuru says: Will this be enough to drive more sales for Microsoft? If they get it right, then we can see hardcore mobile gamers adopting the platform.
