Activision is heavily discussing a Destiny PC port

Destiny has been in the making for a long time now and it's on track to release this September. However, the problem is- the game won't be coming to PC … yet. Fortunately for PC owners, Activision has admitted that it is “heavily discussing” the title's future on the platform.

Speaking to Polygon, Activision Publishing CEO, Erik Hirshberg said: “It is a good fit, and it's something we're talking about and looking at very carefully, and obviously it makes a lot of sense with the genre and the type of game it is. No announcements, but it's something that's a heavy point of discussion. Developing on PC is a different animal than developing for consoles and so we just want to make sure that we're putting one foot in front of the other and getting it right, and that it's of the highest possible quality.”

PS4 owners had the chance to play the game's alpha over the weekend and many were very impressed by it, the beta is also due to go live in July. Destiny strikes a good balance between an MMO and a first person shooter.

However, Bungie has ambitious plans to expand the game over the next ten years, which doesn't quite sync up with a consoles lifespan, as the PS4 and Xbox One are due to be replaced in the next five years or so. It sounds like Activision is planning to get around to releasing a PC version eventually but the publisher doesn't want to commit to it just yet.

KitGuru Says: Destiny would be a great fit for the PC, Activision knows that but for some reason it just doesn't want to announce its intentions for the platform just yet. This is likely down to how long it might take to develop the game for the PC. Destiny will probably do a Grand Theft Auto V and release a year or so after the console versions of the game. Did any of you guys get to check out the PS4 alpha? What did you think of the game?
