iOS 8 now installed on 56% of iPhones and iPads

After a few updates and plenty of bug fixes, iOS 8 adoption is finally on the rise. Adoption has crawled to a halt back in September after it was revealed that the latest mobile OS from Apple was causing far too many problems such as bad WiFi reception, loss of phone signal and some people even lots their plane boarding passes through the Passbook app.

However, major issues have since been resolved and adoption is back on the rise, with 56 per cent of all iPhone and iPad owners installing the update. The updated statistics come just two weeks after Apple announced that 52 per cent of iPhone and iPad users have upgraded, showing four per cent growth.

Back in October only 47 per cent of iOS devices were running the latest version, since then, iOS 8.1 has launched and has clearly re-sparked interest. The bug fixing update launched around the 20th of October and added in Apple Pay support, SMS forwarding, instant hotspot and brought back the classic camera roll.

iOS 8 will receive another update before the end of the year as developers are already testing iOS 8.1.1. This version will fix rare boot loop issues, which has been affecting 128GB iPhone 6 and 6 Plus users.

These latest statistics show that while many iOS users are sticking with 7, many are starting to move over to 8.

KitGuru Says: iOS 8 had a pretty terrible launch, although it didn't hinder the commercial success of the new iPhone 6. Most major bugs have been ironed out by now, which is why adoption is slowly increasing. Have any of you guys upgraded to iOS 8 yet? Are you using an iPhone or iPad?
