Amazon.com homepage down thursday

The Amazon.com homepage was down yesterday affecting users in the United States. Direct links to many products were still working, but navigating to the main webpage caused problems for thousands of users.

The hacker group known as the Nazi Gods are taking the credit for the downtime. The Amazon homepage was showing a “Http/1.1 Service Unavailable” error.

The Nazi Gods went to Twitter explaining how they did it. As Slashgear said however “Still, though, we’re taking that with a slight grain of salt, especially considering that the group claimed that Amazon had its homepage on its own server, which doesn’t quite make sense.”

Amazon have yet to comment on the downtime however the website looks to be back in full flow today.
