Twitter buy Posterous, social blogging service

Twitter have announced that they have acquired Posterous, an exciting new microblogging service.

The company said on their blog “Today we are welcoming a very talented group from Posterous to Twitter. This team has built an innovative product that makes sharing across the web and mobile devices simple – a goal we share.”

Posterous was formed in 2008 and proved a competitor to Tumblr as a means of sharing content online. Tumblr grew in popularity but Posterous only managed a steady, yet slow rate of growth. They announced recently that they have 15 million monthly users.

Kitguru says: There have been no announcements yet in regards to the money Twitter paid for the acquisition.
