NZXT pauses H1 case sales due to safety issue, repair kits coming

Back in February, NZXT launched the H1 case, aiming to make Mini-ITX PC building better than ever before. We even reviewed this case back in April, giving it high praise. Unfortunately since then, an apparent safety issue has been raised, leading to sales of the chassis being temporarily halted.

The NZXT H1 comes with a PCIe riser cable to mount a graphics card. An issue has been identified with the cable, which can cause a short circuit and as a result, is classed as a potential fire hazard. According to NZXT, this has impacted less than ten H1 cases so far, but in order to be cautious, sales of the case have been paused while a solution is put into place.

Speaking on the issue, NZXT says: “We have identified that the two screws that attach the PCIe Riser assembly to the chassis may cause an electrical short circuit in the printed circuit board (PCB). Repair kits are being prepared that include two new screws that address the issue along with instructions to replace them.”

This is a low probability occurrence but nonetheless, all owners of the H1 case will be eligible for a repair kit. These kits will begin going out at soon as next week, allowing users to repair the case at home by replacing two screws.

If you happen to own a H1 case, then you can find contact details and relevant information about the issue, HERE.

KitGuru Says: It might be a low-probability issue, but if you have an NZXT H1, it might be best to power it down for now and wait for the repair kit to come through. Did any of you pick up this case earlier in the year? If so, be sure to contact NZXT support to get things sorted.
