Intel taps new factories to beef up Coffee Lake CPU supply

Intel's Coffee Lake processors have been on the market for almost six weeks now but actually getting hold of one has proven rather difficult. The latest 8th Gen CPUs are swiftly in and out of stock, but help seems to be on the way, with reports this week indicating that Intel is beefing up its supply chain.

In a product change notification published this week, Intel has revealed that it has brought some additional factories into the loop. With the help of factories located in Chengdu, China, Intel will be increasing production across multiple locations to meet demand.

Specifically, Intel is looking to make more of the Core i5-8400, Core i5-8600K, Core i7-8700 and Core i7-8700K, which are listed as the ‘products affected'. These manufacturing changes shouldn't impact consumers, outside of the fact that there should be more stock floating around.

KitGuru Says: Have any of you had trouble trying to get hold of a Coffee Lake processor since launch? I was fortunate enough to get mine quite early, but since then, I have seen them go in and out of stock several times at retail.
