Nvidia has reportedly discontinued the RTX 2060 and GTX 1660

The Nvidia RTX 2060 and GTX 1660 series GPUs have been long-standing in Nvidia's line-up, but their time on the market seems to be coming to an end, as recent reports claim Nvidia will discontinue them soon.

The report comes from ITHome (via Wccftech), which has access to the Board Channels forum, an online space exclusive to Chinese GPU AIB partners. According to what was discussed there, the RTX 2060 Super, RTX 2060, GTX 1660 Super, and GTX 1660 will be discontinued. The GTX 1650 and 1630 will remain available for sale as there is still inventory. However, it's unclear if Nvidia has also stopped producing them.

It's not surprising that Nvidia will discontinue these GPUs, considering that the most recent is three years old. In the RTX 2060's case, the GPU will turn four in January 2023. However, this is the same GPU that was refreshed with a Super variant and a 12GB memory upgrade less than a year ago.

On Nvidia's side, the vagrant slot in the mid-range segment left by the RTX 2060 and GTX 1660 series cards will be filled with the RTX 3050/3060 GPUs. As for its competitors, AMD has the Radeon RX 6600 series and Intel has the Arc A700 series graphics cards.

KitGuru says: Once RTX 2060 and GTX 1660 GPU stock is entirely sold out, there's a chance the Nvidia RTX 3060 and 3050 cards will get a price cut, making them more competitive in their price segment.
