Beat Saber announces new multiplayer mode

Despite the continued maturity of Virtual Reality, Beat Saber remains one of the best titles utilising the unique hardware capabilities of VR to its fullest. Thanks to this success, the team has continued to evolve the game, adding new features and songs. The latest addition to Beat Saber has now been announced, bringing multiplayer action to the rhythm game.

Making the announcement via a teaser trailer, the Beat Saber team revealed that players can now “Level up the competition! Beat Saber multiplayer mode launches in less than a month. Finally experience the fun with friends or random opponents on October 13.”

Though very little else is currently known aside from the fact that “For the first time, you can take on your friends or random opponents. Rise to the top of the leaderboards in intense head-to-head multiplayer action,” the teaser trailer appears to indicate that the multiplayer mode will support at least 5 players. Furthermore, players will be able to create their own avatars in-game.

While PSVR support has been confirmed, the developers explained that “we are doing everything we can to make sure we release multiplayer simultaneously on all platforms on October 13 but there might be a delay with the PS4 version. Please bear with us and check our social media regularly for new updates about PS VR.”

Of course, more songs are also on the way, with a BTS music pack set to arrive at some point in the future.
