Suicide Squad could be delayed further as Rocksteady has yet to set a new date

Last week it was widely reported that Rocksteady's Suicide Squad game has been internally delayed following criticism of the gameplay reveal. Now, it seems Rocksteady is having trouble landing on a new date, so the game could be delayed further.

Rocksteady still has not publicly announced the Suicide Squad delay but sources speaking with Bloomberg's Jason Schreier insist it is happening. While it was thought that the game would still release in late 2023, the lack of new date being set opens the possibility for the game to be pushed further into 2024. Previously, sources speaking with games reporter Jeff Grubb claimed a 2024 delay was possible.

Rocksteady still has not announced the delay publicly, but with the game's official release date still set for May, the studio doesn't have much time to publicly announce its change of plans.

While the game could see a significant delay, it is thought that Rocksteady will be sticking to its live service plans. Improvements and polish will come to other areas of the game, but the style of gameplay and monetisation methods will likely remain the same.

KitGuru Says: Given the news around the game right now, it seems clear that WB was caught off-guard by the reception to the gameplay reveal. It is too late to make any drastic changes to the game but a lot of good could still happen with an extra year or so of development.
