The post Joby WAVO POD Mic Review first appeared on KitGuru.]]>
If we told you to think about the company called Joby, the first thing you’d probably think of is the Gorilla Pod tripod that many vloggers use daily, if you know about camera equipment that is. Today we’re not looking at tripods though, we’re looking at Joby’s latest venture into the world of microphones, podcasts and live streaming. We’re checking out their plug & play USB-C condenser microphone, with two pickup patterns and an array of mounting options, called the Joby WAVO POD, coming in at £89.95 but is it any good? Let’s find out!

Specifications:

 • USB-C Condenser Microphone
 • Plug & Play via Type-C USB
 • Desk stand and pop filter included
 • Volume & Mute controls
 • Zero latency 3.5mm headphone jack for monitoring
 • Polar pickup pattern: cardioid & omnidirectional
 • Black/Red colourway
 • Sample rate: 24bit/48KHz
 • Frequency response: 20 – 20,000Hz
 • Signal to Noise Ratio: 80dB
 • Mounting options: ¼-20 on the sides, 3/8” to 5/8” on the bottom
 • Dimensions: 274 x 136 x 136mm
 • Weight: 717g

You can purchase the Joby WAVO POD, for £89.95 directly from Joby HERE!

Pros:

 • Great audio quality
 • Impressive mounting options and stand design
 • Onboard controls are very handy and intuitive
 • Cardioid and omnidirectional pickup patterns are very handy to have
 • Very easy to use, truly a plug & play device

Cons:

 • Volume dial is wobbly
 • 2nd pop filter is an additional purchase
 • No shock mount leads to unwanted noise through the desk stand

KitGuru says: The Joby WAVO POD is incredibly easy to use, it has the most mounting options we’ve ever seen on a USB microphone, and the inclusion of both a cardioid and omnidirectional pickup pattern is excellent for those that may want to capture audio from more than one source. The only thing we’d recommend is to invest in a boom arm alongside it if possible.

The post Box Cube Custom Built PC Review first appeared on KitGuru.]]>
Today we’re checking out a custom-built system from Box using their website configurator. This is a fairly high-end machine with a price tag of £2752.04. At this price-point it aims to appeal to those wanting the most modern hardware to tackle any game 2022 may throw at it… but will it hold up during our tests when we compare it to a system that costs £1000 less? Let’s find out!

Specifications:

 • Lian-Li O11D Air Mini-S Snow White Standard Gaming Case
 • MSI MPG Z690 FORCE WIFI Motherboard
 • Intel Core i7 12700KF Processor
 • Lian-Li Galahad 240mm RGB AIO CPU Liquid Cooler
 • 32GB (2x 16GB) Kingston FURY Beast DDR5 5200MHz RAM
 • 500GB Seagate FireCuda 530 NVME PCIE Gen 4 M.2 SSD
 • Seagate 1TB BarraCuda Hard Drive
 • Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3070 Vision OC V2 8GB LHR Gaming Graphics Card
 • 750W – Corsair SF750 SFX Fully Modular Platinum Rated
 • Lian-Li UNI Fan SL RGB Triple Pack 3 x 120mm White RGB Case Fans with Controller
 • Microsoft Windows 11 Home
 • Cube Windows 11 Recovery USB Drive
 • Black | White Braided Styling Cable Kit
 • Cube 7 Day Express Manufacture & Testing
 • 3 Year Collect and Return Warranty Service provided by MendIT (UK Only)

There are some very solids specs here with the latest 12th Gen Intel Core i7, with a Z690 motherboard that super fast DDR5 memory at 5200MHz. This system looks like it’ll be a very competent gaming and even productivity system that should handle most tasks that you throw at it but, of course, in true KitGuru fashion we’ll be putting it through its paces later on within the review.

Before we go any further, I did want to bring up the Cyberpower Infinity X125 GT I’ve just mentioned in a bit more detail. I reviewed that system in December, and I thought we could compare the system’s gaming performance later on in this review to see if a custom-built system makes sense compared to a standard prebuilt system.

The Cyberpower Infinity X125 GT has a Lian Li O11 Air Mini case, an i5-12600KF, 16GB of DDR4 3600MHz RAM, a 1TB Corsair M600 Core NVMe SSD, 750W Corsair PSU and an RTX 3070. The specs are similar, with the Box system offering an i7 and 32GB of memory, but also upping the price to £2752.04, whereas the Cyberpower system is almost £1000 cheaper at £1799. We’ll see later in our gaming benchmarks just how well this system fairs against the custom built one by Box.

The O11D AIR MINI Box have chosen for the system looks great, it is worth pointing out this is still an ATX case, so it’s not mini-ITX or anything like that. The top, back and bottom have a superfine mesh, which should definitely help with airflow and it gives it a great aesthetic too. We get a good selection of front IO on the case too with 2x USB 3.0, 1x USB 3.1 Type-C and 1x HD Audio combo jack.

Taking the side panel off reveals just how much space there is inside and for a small case it’s actually very spacious. As our radiator is vertically mounted, we still get access to the top of the motherboard, which is a bonus. There’s a total of 9 fans in this system. We have 3 120mm RGB fans as intakes on the bottom, one 120mm RGB fan as an exhaust on the left and 3 more 120mm RGB fans as exhausts on the top.

One thing to note that is a bit of a shame is the GPU sag. Our Gigabyte 3070 Vision OC V2 is a heavy looking card with a shroud and heatsink, sadly this has some slight sag when you get eye level with it. It’s not horrendous but it is there and over time this will likely sag further. It would have been nice to see a support bracket of some kind to help prevent that.

The entire build is very clean, has been well managed and all components stick within the white and black theme. There’s plenty of RGB LED’s on offer here too from all of the fans that are installed as well as the CPU pump.

Pros:

 • All cables are detachable.
 • Lots of connectivity options.
 • Handmade speaker cabinets.
 • Excellent build quality and design.
 • Very good audio quality on all 3 EQ presets.

Cons:

 • “GAMING” logo on the side is tacky.
 • Cannot turn off audio prompts.
 • Audio prompts aren’t especially clear.
 • Bass slightly lacking.

KitGuru says: The build quality and design are top notch but we can’t help but find the RGB LED “GAMING” text on the sides slightly tacky. The audio prompts are frustrating as you cannot turn them off but if you can look past this then the audio quality is impressive. For general consumption of music, movies and gaming these are very good PC desktop speakers.

Cons:

 • Only one connectivity option.
 • Non-detachable microphone.

KitGuru says: With a lacklustre non-detachable microphone, no microphone monitoring and very limited connectivity we find it hard to recommend over the ASUS TUF H3 Wireless that is only £15 more. However, despite its shortcomings we can't deny the ASUS TUF H1 offers good audio quality and it is comfortable.

The post Cyberpower Infinity X125 GT System Review first appeared on KitGuru.]]>
Today we’re checking out a prebuilt system from Cyberpower, the Infinity X125 GT, with an RTX 3070, Intel Core i5-12600KF, and 16GB DDR4 memory clocked at 3600MHz. With an asking price of £1799, it may appeal to many wishing to buy a new system that has enough kick to tackle the latest games… but will it hold up during our tests? Let’s find out.

Specifications:

 • Case: Lian Li O11 Air Mini
 • CPU: Intel i5 12600KF – 10 core, 16 thread 6P @3.70ghz-4.90ghz/ 4E @2.80Ghz-3.60Ghz
 • GPU: MSI Ventus RTX 3070 8GB
 • Mobo: MSI Pro Z690-A Wifi ATX, 4x m.2, USB 3.2
 • RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 3600MHz
 • Cooler: Corsair H100i Pro XT
 • SSD: Corsair MP600 Core 1TB NVME
 • PSU: Corsair RM750 750W
 • OS: Windows 11 Home
 • Desktop standard warranty, 5 years labour, 2 years parts, 6 months collect & return with life time tech support

On paper there’s some very solid specs here that look should result in a very competent gaming and even productivity system that should handle most tasks that you throw at it. Of course, in true KitGuru fashion we’ll be putting it through its paces before coming to any conclusions.

One thing to note is that 12th Gen Intel CPU’s have just released, our system here has one but the specific model is the i5-12600KF. The only difference here is the KF doesn’t have integrated graphics and is slightly cheaper than the K variant. This isn’t a big issue, especially as we have an RTX3070 in our system but the lack of integrated graphics can make troubleshooting a little more difficult.

The O11 AIR MINI case that Cyberpower have chosen for the system looks great. Being the “Mini” it’s small and the design is almost a cube shape compared to conventional cases. The top, front and bottom have a superfine mesh, which should definitely help with airflow and it gives it a great aesthetic too. There is also a removable dust filter underneath also. We get a good selection of front IO on the case too with 2x USB 3.0, 1x USB 3.1 Type-C and 1x HD Audio combo jack.

Inside the system there’s a bit of empty space on the right side but this is mainly due to our MSI RTX3070 being a shorter card, but if anything that space should help with our airflow. We have two black 140mm PWM fans as intakes on the front and one black PWM 120mm fan as an exhaust, on the top we have our Corsair H100i Pro XT CPU cooler and radiator mounted above and these too have blacked out fans acting as exhausts too and keeping in theme with the rest of the build.

The only downside to a smaller case like this one is that the top mounted radiator and fans end up covering up the top of the motherboard making access impossible. If you need to access the top of the motherboard for any reason, you’ll need to remove the AIO first. There is clearance for the top of the memory modules, but only barely.

In terms of the overall build and colour theme, the continuity is great, everything continues on nicely from the black case aesthetic, inside our MSI Pro Z690-A motherboard, MSI Ventus graphics card, RAM, fans, SSD heatsink and AIO are all black giving a very stealthy appearance. Of course, this is a gaming machine and as such we get our splash of RGB LED from our CPU pump of the Corsair H100i Pro XT CPU cooler.

Finally, the cable management throughout the system is excellent. You can see the builders at Cyberpower have really taken time and care when assembling this build as everything is meticulously placed and well managed.

Pros:

 • Excellent performance.
 • Very comfortable ergonomic design.
 • Great aesthetics & design.
 • Hyperscroll Tilt scroll wheel works brilliantly & silently.
 • Good price point for what you get.

Cons:

 • Side buttons & sniper buttons aren’t consistent in feel.
 • Some may not like the braided cable.

KitGuru says: We think it’s a great incremental upgrade over the V2, with a much better “Hyperscroll Tilt” wheel that has many operation modes that we really enjoyed. If you’ve got a Basilisk V2 then it’s probably not worth upgrading but if you’re new to the Basilisk or upgrading from a V1 then I think it’s worth buying.

KitGuru says: The AGK700 is a solid keyboard, the AGM700 mouse is worth the sub-£30 price tag but we'd pass on the AMM700 mouse mat due to the inconsistent lighting. However, if bought together as a bundle then it makes for a complete and matching setup.

ASUS are known for their high-end Republic of Gamers products and peripherals, 5 years ago they released the 12 button Spatha wireless gaming mouse, which came with a case, dock, spare switches and more but it was very big, heavy and expensive at £139.99. Fast forward to today and ASUS are back at it again but this time with the Spatha X, an almost identical mouse in every way but with some improvements… and even a downgrade? Is it worth the even higher asking price of £149.99? Let’s find out.

 • PixArt 3370, 19,000 dpi optical sensor

You can purchase the ASUS ROG Spatha X when it releases at £149.99, from Box.co.uk, HERE!

Pros:

 • Excellent build quality
 • Great performance
 • Much better battery life
 • Easy to replace switches and spares included

Cons:

 • Minimal upgrades compared to the original
 • 6 Button layout can be awkward at times
 • Expensive

KitGuru says: The Spatha X is pretty much identical to the 2016 Spatha but with a few minor improvements to make it hold its own within 2021. It has great build quality, great performance and feel but definitely aimed at those with larger hands. However; we wish ASUS made some adjustments to the 6 button layout and made it lighter as 168g is still too heavy.

The post Cyberpower Ultra 33 PC Bundle Review first appeared on KitGuru.]]>
Here at KitGuru we love testing the most advanced components and prebuilt systems on the market but that’s not always what everyone is after. Some people are yet to be fully converted to the ‘PC master race' and the most expensive options can scare off potential PC gamers when they see the price compared to game consoles. That’s where Cyberpower jump in with their latest offering, the Ultra 33 bundle, a complete setup including a gaming PC, a monitor, keyboard, mouse mat, mouse and headset, all for only £899. Can it really be any good? Let’s find out!

Spec:

 • Cyberpower Auron Mid-Tower OEM Case with ARGB fans and an external RGB remote
 • AMD Ryzen 3 3200G – 4-Core 3.6Ghz, 4Ghz turbo
 • AMD Ryzen Wraith CPU cooler
 • Palit GeForce GTX 1650 GP 4GB
 • MSI B450 Tomahawk Max II
 • Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8GB 3200Mhz RAM
 • WD SN550 1TB NVME
 • InWin A45 450W 80+ PSU
 • N300 Wireless adapter
 • Windows 10
 • 5 years labour, 2 years parts, 6 months collect and return plus life time tech support warranty

Peripherals:

 • MSI G241V Gaming Monitor
 • Epos GSP 300 Headset
 • Cyberpower Gaming Mouse, USB Keyboard and XXL Mouse Pad

For a budget system these specs look great, the parts chosen pair nicely and it’s great to see that WD SN550 1TB NVMe drive there. It acts the boot drive, which is why the system boots so quickly, but there’s plenty of room for games and the games will certainly benefit from running from an NVMe SSD rather than a slower SATA SSD or HDD. Our RAM is reasonably fast and we’re still getting 16GB here too, which is ideal for gaming. Yes, the 4GB GTX 1650 is a budget card… but this is a budget system and should still be capable of playing games with good performance with some graphics options tweaked.

One thing that caught our eye and had us slightly worried was the InWin power supply. It’s only 80+ rated, which means it’s not even 80+ Bronze efficiency. We contacted Cyberpower regarding this and, as expected, we were told it was a strictly budgetary decision – but the company was happy to share details of the return rate:

“This particular model of the last 5,000 units used during 2021 we’ve had to replace x59 of them (as of today) so we’re looking at a return rate of just under 1.2%, so they’re a solid PSU for the budget ranges. If I compare this to the RM750X from Corsair, our return rate for that is just over 1.5%”.

That is definitely a reassuring statement! Not only that but remember you do have warranty here too! 5 years labour, 2 years parts, 6 months collect and return plus life time tech support warranty.

Build-wise, everything looks to be in order too, it has been tidily cable managed inside with plenty of room for airflow too. I like the inclusion of the RGB fans and there’s even an RGB LED light strip across the top as well, all of which can be adjusted via the included remote.

Today we’re checking out a prebuilt system by Box known as the Titanium X. Get ready to hold your breath and watch the moths fly out of your wallet, as this beast comes in at a hefty £3379.99. Now, as you can imagine, there’s good reason as to why this system is so expensive and yep, you’ve guessed it, that’s because it’s got some seriously enticing specs. With a Ryzen 9 5900X, 32GB 3200MHz RAM, 1TB PCIe Gen 4 NVMe SSD and a monstrous RTX 3080 Ti… is it really worth almost £3.5K?

 • 3 years collect & return warranty

 • Corsair H150i Elite Capellix RGB 360mm AIO Cooler
 • MSI MAG X570 Tomahawk WIFI Motherboard

 • Corsair 1TB MP600 NVMe Gen 4 M.2 SSD
 • Seagate 1TB HDD

 • Corsair RM850w PSU
 • Corsair SP120 RGB Elite 120mm Fans
 • Braided Cable Kit
 • Win 10 Home
 • Win 10 Recovery USB

On paper there’s some very impressive specs here that look like this machine will absolutely breeze through the latest games and tasks that you throw at it… but of course, in true KitGuru fashion, we’ll be putting it through its paces later on within the review.

Starting with the PC itself, Box is using the Corsair 5000X case, and it looks stylish with smoked black tempered glass all-round, which can easily be removed on the front and top to get to dust filters. There’s plenty of large gaps around the glass for airflow too along with some nice front IO; USB 3.1 type-C, 2x USB 3.0 and a combo audio jack.

Inside, the system doesn’t look empty with any wasted space here. The MSI RTX 3080 Ti is a massive card, especially with the large bracket underneath it to try and help the inevitable and dreaded GPU sag. The bracket does pretty well though and the GPU only starts to sag at the end where it’s mostly unsupported. Paired with the Corsair H150i Elite 360mm AIO orientated at the top of the case, it definitely helps fill the space with the tubes coming down front the righthand side.

Despite that large AIO on top, the case is big enough to still give you ample room at access the top of the motherboard easily and I really like that as top mounted AIOs often end up covering the top of the motherboard and it can look a little too close for comfort in my opinion.

Theme-wise, the continuity is great, everything continues on nicely from the black frosted glass of the case, as all components are black with almost all of them having RGB elements if you want to enable them too. Finally, the cable management throughout the system is excellent. You can see the builders at Box have really taken time and care when assembling this build as everything is meticulously placed and well managed.

The post Elgato Facecam Review first appeared on KitGuru.]]>
Elgato is a streaming and content creation giant, making all kinds of solutions and handy bits of hardware and software for creators. The company now wants to appeal to the masses by entering the webcam scene with an all-in-one solution. The Elgato Facecam has just launched with a hefty price of £189.99. With a Sony STARVIS CMOS sensor, fully glass 24mm equivalent f2.4 lens and uncompressed 1080p60 feed… Is it any good?

Specifications:

 • Elgato Prime Lens (all-glass)
 • Fixed Focus Range 30 – 120cm
 • Aperture – f/2.4
 • Focal Length – 24mm full-frame equivalent
 • Field of View – 82 degrees
 • Sensor – Sony STARVIS CMOS
 • Resolution – 1080p60
 • Detachable cable – USB 3.0 to USB C
 • Mounting options with ¼ inch thread
 • Dimensions: 79 x 48 x 58mm without mount
 • Weight: 96g without privacy cap and mount

You can purchase the Elgato Facecam, from Overclockers UK for £189.95, HERE!

Pros:

 • Excellent uncompressed image quality.
 • The best webcam software out there.
 • Fully custom controls that can be saved onto the webcam itself.
 • Great lowlight capabilities.
 • Lightweight.

Cons:

 • Pricey.
 • Not enough shutter speed options for 50Hz regions.
 • No upgrade path like a dedicated camera option.

KitGuru says: The uncompressed 60fps 1080p feed is sharp, colours are represented well and the field of view is nice and wide, the software is absolutely brilliant, being able to have ultimate control over every aspect of the camera and to save settings internally to the camera is exactly what you’d want as a video creator. We’re going to say it, this is the best webcam we’ve ever tested, despite the shutter speed niggle that we hope Elgato will fix with a software update.

 • Brilliant build quality.
 • Excellent comfort in claw and fingertip grip.
 • Very responsive buttons all round without pre/post travel.
 • Great performance from the sensor and primary buttons.
 • 9 programmable buttons work well for all game genres.

Cons:

 • No spare mouse feet included.
 • Slightly cluttered software design.
 • Medium lift off distance could be an issue for those wanting a very low L.O.D..

KitGuru says: We like the way SteelSeries thought about how to wrap the cable without leading to harsh kinks, and the overall design and aesthetics are great. Build quality is spot on and all 9 buttons are snappy and responsive. As a one-size fits all mouse aimed at being a jack of all trades for all games rather than a master of one, we're impressed by how well this mouse performed across the board.

The post AVerMedia AX310 Live Streamer NEXUS Review first appeared on KitGuru.]]>
As you may know, AverMedia makes all sorts of products aimed at live streamers and content creators, including as capture cards and microphones, many of which we’ve reviewed here on KitGuru in the past. Discuss on our Facebook page HERE.

Pros:

 • Good build quality and aesthetics.
 • Affordable price point vs competition.
 • IPS display, good viewing angles.

Cons:

 • No adjustable height from the additional magnetic stand.
 • Touchpads don’t depress evenly and are too large.
 • No XLR out ports for speakers, only one 3.5mm line out port.
 • Software is sluggish and mic metre is almost useless.
 • Limited custom options within the software such as sub-mix linking and adjusting widget size.

KitGuru says: We think AVerMedia really tried to push against the competition here and make a one-stop shop for live streamers but, sadly, there’s just too many frustrating design and software choices made. We'd recommend that you wait and either see how their firmware updates improve the system or whether they bring out a version 2.

The post PCSpecialist Fusion Spark Review – buy now, upgrade later! first appeared on KitGuru.]]>
We’re checking out a prebuilt system by PCSpecialist, the Fusion Spark, priced at just £999. Its key specs include an Intel Core i5-11400F, 512GB NVMe SSD, 750W PSU and an RX 5500 XT 4GB. This review is slightly different to most, as we all know getting hold of the latest graphics cards is almost impossible, or they’re very expensive, and as such PCSpecialist have created the Fusion Spark system, designed to offer an easy upgrade path in the future.

This means is it comes with an OK graphics card for now, but it’s intended to be swapped out when the user can get a hold of one of the latest cards, giving you something that works today and that can get even better once the GPU market is slightly more sensible. We’ll be putting the stock system through its paces and then swapping out the RX 5500 XT for an RX 6700 XT just to see how well the system performs when upgraded as intended.

Specifications:

 • ASUS TUF Gaming B560-PLUS WiFi motherboard
 • Intel Core i5-11400F six core processor
 • 4GB AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT GPU
 • 16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 3200MHz, 2x 8GB sticks
 • 512GB PCS-branded PCIe M.2 SSD
 • 1TB Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM HDD
 • Corsair 750W TXm semi-modular 80 Plus Gold PSU
 • PCS FrostFlow 100 RGB V3 CPU cooler
 • 3 PCS ARGB LED fans + controller kit
 • Windows 10 Home 64 Bit
 • PCS Prism X RGB mid tower case

For just £999 the specs of this system are looking very good for gaming, but of course this is all relative to the price point. Remember the RX 5500 XT GPU is really just there as a placeholder until you can source or afford to upgrade it.

The PCS Prism X mid tower is certainly decent, the front panel might not be to everyone’s taste but I quite like the large opening with a grill that shows one of the 3 intake fans, the only negative really is there’s no dust filter on the front but there is underneath the system and on top.

Inside there’s a fair amount of room to access the top of the motherboard and also plenty of room to route new cables if you wanted to install more SATA drives. There’s also a cut out from the shroud at the bottom to see our Corsair PSU, which is orientated the right way to see the graphic, rather than it being upside down.

Everything inside the system has a black theme, luckily no ketchup and mustard cables either from our semi-modular PSU, and our CPU cooler’s heatsink is a nice matte black keeping in theme with the build. The only splash of colour, when the system if off at least, is from the ASUS TUF motherboard as it has the classic TUF yellow accents, but personally I quite like it. We do have RGB galore with the PCS fans installed, we have 3 RGB intake fans, 2 more exhausting at the top and one exhausting on the back and yet another on our CPU cooler, totalling 7 RGB fans in total!

Overall, the build is very clean, it has been well cable managed and the placement of everything looks like it’s been installed with care. I like how they’ve thought about the theme with black cables and cable ties along with the matching CPU cooler and the same fans throughout.

The post AVerMedia Live Streamer AM330 Microphone Review first appeared on KitGuru.]]>
Many of you know AVerMedia are a driving force when it comes to products aimed at content creation, they make all sorts of devices like capture cards, webcams and USB condenser microphones. We’ve reviewed many of these in the past but today we’re taking a look at their brand-new Live Streamer AM330, a dynamic XLR microphone aimed at live streamers and content creators, coming in at £91.99. Is this going to give you the audio quality of your dreams? Let’s find out!

Specifications:

 • Dynamic microphone
 • Cardioid polar pickup pattern
 • Built-in pop filter
 • XLR connection type
 • Phantom Power not required
 • Frequency response: 50Hz – 18KHz
 • Sensitivity: -52dB plus/minus 3dB at 1KHz (1V/Pa)
 • Dimensions 56 x 167 mm
 • Weight: Microphone 530.6g / Bracket 95.8g
 • 3m XLR cable included
 • Interchangeable colour ring included
 • 5/8” to 3/8” thread adapter included
 • Required audio interface/mixer not included

We don't yet have a buy-link for the AVerMedia Live Streamer AM330 microphone but we have been told the MSRP is £91.99.

Pros:

 • Great build quality.
 • Beautiful design and aesthetics.
 • Fully metal construction including metal mounting threads.
 • Good audio quality is obtainable in certain use cases.

Cons:

 • Very distorted despite gain/volume settings when at 10cm or closer.
 • In-built pop filter isn’t very good, buy an external pop filter.

KitGuru says: The build quality, aesthetics and construction of the AM330 are brilliant, it’s a very aesthetically pleasing microphone when used on video and it can sound good but, sadly, the distortion when used close up and the ineffective built-in pop filter makes us recommend the RODE Podmic at the same price point over this one.

The post ASUS Chromebox 4 Review first appeared on KitGuru.]]>
Today we’re taking a look at another mini-PC… but not just any old mini-PC, we’re checking out the ASUS Chromebox 4 priced at £419.99. What makes this stand out from the crowd is the fact that it runs on Chrome OS instead of Windows 10. Today we’ll be doing a first impressions video, looking at the setup, how quickly it boots, app support, who this is aimed at and more.

Specifications:

 • Chrome OS
 • Intel i3-10110U
 • 8GB (4GB x2) DDR4 2666MHz SO-DIMM
 • 128GB M.2 SATA SSD
 • Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX201 (Gig+)(2×2)+BT5
 • Gigabit LAN
 • 90W Power Adapter
 • 1.0KG
 • 148.5 x 148.5 x 40mm

 • Front IO: 2 x USB 3.2 Gen2 (Support BC1.2); 1 x Audio Jack (Combo Mic/Headphone Jack); 1 x Micro SD card

During our testing we ran into some Wi-Fi 6 issues where the download speed results were considerable lower than expected. We reached out to ASUS to see if this is a specific issue with the Chromebox and our Netgear mesh network. Razer Book 13 Review – Razer’s first Ultrabook! https://www.kitguru.net/lifestyle/mobile/laptops/andrew-munro/razer-book-13-review-razers-first-ultrabook/ https://www.kitguru.net/lifestyle/mobile/laptops/andrew-munro/razer-book-13-review-razers-first-ultrabook/#respond Tue, 04 May 2021 07:34:57 +0000 https://www.kitguru.net/?p=513057 A laptop from Razer that ISN'T meant for gaming?!

The post Razer Book 13 Review – Razer’s first Ultrabook! first appeared on KitGuru.]]>
Everyone knows that Razer makes high end gaming laptops that can be in excess of £3000 – but what if gaming isn’t the reason you’re looking for a new laptop? Maybe you’re on the hunt for an ultraportable machine that doesn’t compromise on quality or productivity for your work environment. Well, that’s what Razer is offering with its latest range of Razer Book 13 Ultrabooks. We review the most expensive Book 13 model that comes in at £1,999.99 – but are you really willing to spend £2k just to check your emails and use office?

Specifications:

 • £1,999.99

 • Weight 1.4KG
 • Product Code: RZ09-03571WM2-R3W1

The Razer Book 13 is aimed at productivity users, both personal and business, it’s ideal for those that want an ultra-compact system with solid build quality. This isn’t a laptop aimed at heavy workloads like video editing or gaming for example, instead it’s aimed at Microsoft Office use, browsing emails, using search engines and video calls.

Looking at the specs of the system they match up with the target audience and on paper it seems to be perfect for the job. We have put the system through various benchmarks to see how it stacks up, continue reading to find out how it performs.

Taking a look at the dimensions above in the specifications, size wise we think it’s great, it’s small and thin enough to slip into almost any backpack or messenger bag whilst retaining a decent sized keyboard and a very usable 13.4” UHD 16:10 touch display.

Inside the Book 13 we can see a 55WHr battery as well as the Samsung PM981a OEM-only SSD, which is accessible so you could always swap this out if you really wanted to. The RAM is soldered on so there’s no accessible SODIMM slots therefore you can’t upgrade these in future. Finally, we can see Razer are using a vapour chamber for the CPU cooling too and they often use this on their other laptops.

It’s fairly heavy despite its small size at 1.4KG but it is an anodised aluminium uni-body design, reminiscent of the older Apple MacBook Pro, personally we like that is has some weight behind it and we also like the metal construction because it does give it an air of quality. If it was super lightweight and plastic, I think it would feel like a toy and I’d be dubious of its longevity or build quality. Talking of build quality, it’s great. There’s no rattle from any of the keys on the keyboard and the screen lid opens smoothly with enough resistance to hold the screen up at an angle.

Pros:

 • Excellent build quality.
 • Ergonomic shape is incredibly comfortable.
 • Quickstrike buttons work perfectly, almost no pre or post-travel.
 • 8,000Hz polling rate really feels like it gives you an edge.
 • Brilliant price point and a non-RGB version available for £5 less.

Cons:

 • 8,000Hz polling rate is most noticeable with high-refresh rate monitors and high-end gaming PCs.
 • Gloss accents pick up grease and fingerprints.

KitGuru says: We absolutely love the Sabre RGB Pro by Corsair. The price point is excellent coming in at £49.99 for the RGB version or £44.99 for the non-RGB version which is also 5g lighter. For the money, you're getting an all-round excellent mouse.

Elgato Light Strip Review – £60 for this?! https://www.kitguru.net/peripherals/andrew-munro/elgato-light-strip-review-60-for-this/ https://www.kitguru.net/peripherals/andrew-munro/elgato-light-strip-review-60-for-this/#respond Tue, 16 Mar 2021 08:37:21 +0000 https://www.kitguru.net/?p=507710 Would you pay £60 for a single (and non-extendable) 2m LED Strip?

The post Elgato Light Strip Review – £60 for this?! first appeared on KitGuru.]]>
Elgato is known for releasing excellent gear aimed at live streamers and content creators. Now they’ve gone one step further, or even maybe one step too far? That's because the company is now offering their own RGB LED light strips, coming in at a seriously high asking price of £60 for a single, non-diffused, 2m LED strip. Today we’re going to put Elgato’s premium strip against two ‘Amazon Choice' RGB LED strips that are much cheaper alternatives to see if the Light Strip really is worth such a high price tag.

Specifications:

 • Included: 2m Light Strip, controller, power supply, Tesa adhesive strip, quick start guide
 • Brightness: 2000 lumens, adjustable
 • Colour range: 3500 – 6500 Kelvin, adjustable
 • Power: up to 30W
 • Wi-Fi connection: 2.4 GHz, 802.11 b/g/n
 • Supported encryption: WPA2 + AES, WPA + TKIP/AES
 • Strip dimensions: 2000 x 12 x 3 mm
 • Controller dimensions: 88 x 39 x 19 mm
 • Wi-Fi enabled Mac/PC or iOS/Android device required
 • Elgato Stream Deck support
 • Elgato Control Centre app required to adjust effects etc.

You can purchase the Elgato Light Strip, from Overclockers UK, for £59.99 HERE!

Discuss on our Facebook page HERE.

Pros:

 • Excellent brightness and colour representation.
 • Build quality feels premium.
 • Control Centre app on both Android and PC is very intuitive.
 • Stream Deck support means these are ideal for live streamers/content creators.

Cons:

 • Took an excessive amount of attempts to connect to the Control Centre app.
 • Incredibly expensive.
 • Only 2m, no extensions available currently.
 • For more than 2m you must buy multiple 2m strips with multiple power supplies to power each 2m strip (you’ll need lots of power outlets).
 • Wi-Fi 2.4GHz only, there is no Bluetooth support or physical controller.

KitGuru says: Despite the product itself being of good quality with great brightness and colour representation, we feel that the Light Strip was rushed. With some thought Elgato could have turned this product into something special, with a choice of whether to use wall power or USB power, even if it limited some features or brightness, this would have given extra utility. Launching the Light Strip with the ability to extend them, maybe offering a starter pack with a 3m Light Strip and a 2m extension for around £50 would have been acceptable – but as it currently stands at £60 for a single 2m strip that requires a plug socket for each one purchased… We have to be honest and advise you to consider other options unless you absolutely need Stream Deck integration.

Cyberpower Ultra 9 XT (5900X/6800XT) Review https://www.kitguru.net/desktop-pc/gaming-rig/andrew-munro/cyberpower-ultra-9-xt-5900x-6800xt-review/ https://www.kitguru.net/desktop-pc/gaming-rig/andrew-munro/cyberpower-ultra-9-xt-5900x-6800xt-review/#respond Mon, 15 Mar 2021 08:21:15 +0000 https://www.kitguru.net/?p=506491 This pre-built PC costs around £2800 and offers a 5800X and RX 6800 XT

The post Cyberpower Ultra 9 XT (5900X/6800XT) Review first appeared on KitGuru.]]>
Since it’s almost impossible to get your hands on sought-after computer components, your best bet may be to buy from a PC builder and get yourself a prebuilt system. Today we’re checking out Cyberpower’s Ultra 9 XT system boasting a Ryzen 9 5900X, Radeon RX 6800XT, 32GB 3600MHz RAM and more. Coming in at £2795, including a 5-year warranty, is it worth your hard earned cash?

Specifications:

 • Corsair 4000D OEM case
 • 6x 120mm Cyberpower Black PWM Fans
 • Asus TUF B550 Plus motherboard
 • AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, 12-core 3.70GHz with 4.8GH turbo
 • MSI Gaming X-Trio 16GB AMD RX 6800XT
 • Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (4x8GB) 3600MHz RAM
 • Corsair RM850X 850W 80+ Gold Modular PSUEdit crop formats
 • Master Lite 360 cooler
 • 500GB Seagate Firecuda 520 PCIe Gen4 NVME
 • 4TB Seagate HDD
 • Shipping is free within the UK and comes with 5 year limited warranty

On paper this machine is offering some impressive specifications, component pairings are excellent here for a high-end gaming system as well as home workstation for video editing as an example. Of course, we’ll be putting the system through its paces later on in our testing to see how it holds up in both synthetic tests and also real-world usage.

The first thing I want to touch on is how the system arrived. I was surprised when it came only in the case box, I usually find prebuilt systems arrive within the case box and then placed inside another larger shipping box with plenty of padding… but that wasn’t the case here. The other thing to note was finding the power cable wrapped inside a plastic bag placed inside the system. Yes, this cable was placed inside the system above the graphics card before the support foam is inserted.

Personally, I’d be worried about receiving the system like this in fear of any damages via transit. I aired my concerns but Cyberpower assured me they’re confident enough that nothing will go wrong and as such they do offer 5 years limited warranty. Would you be happy to receive a £2795 system like this?

Despite the huge tinted glass panel on the Corsair 4000D case we actually have a pretty stealthy system here thanks to the 6 black fans, with the only RGB being on the side of the MSI 6800 XT graphics card and on the Cooler Master Lite cooler. As the glass panel is tinted you can’t really see inside, Leo reviewed the Corsair 4000D last year and this was one of his cons but I’d say for a stealthy system like this it’s actually a positive.

Cable management throughout is superb and behind the back panel everything is routed meticulously. I’m impressed with the attention to detail and cable routing here and if I was a paying customer, I’d be filled with confidence at the care taken when building this system.

Yes, £200 is quite expensive but for a streamer that wants the best we think this is an achievable price point and worthwhile investment as it is cheaper than the DSLR route.
