Are you sick of running out of power on the move? Then the Mipwr Dynamo team may have just the answer. It is an iPhone case with a hidden lever that can be pressed down repeatedly to charge the battery, but remains thin enough to fit in a pocket.

The inspiration for the charger came after Hurricane Sandy when getting to a power socket was impossible. Ideal for situations when you are stuck in a remote location or in the middle of a disaster.

There is a switch on the side of the case which releases a small lever at a position where it can be gripped comfortably. Pushing this down spins a magnetic dynamo inside the case and this charges a 400 mAh battery through electromagnetic induction. One minute of squeezing the lever will get around 30 seconds of talk time according to the design team. After charging, the lever can then be locked back in place, hidden out of the way.

The device also has a port to charge via a Micro USB connection. After being fully charged the Mipwr Dynamo battery offers enough power for two hours of talking or texting.

The developers only have a working prototype for the iPhone 4/4S but they plan to use the funds from the current Kickstarter campaign to get a version created for the latest iPhone. They want to raise $78,000 with pledges starting at $25. If they raise enough then the plans are to start shipping  in February 2014. So far they have only raised $2,700 with 18 days left to go.

The Saucy Fish Co is the first ever fish business that has been included into the CoolBrands list, which has been in operation for 12 years.

Apple got the top vote as coolest brand in Britain, followed by Aston Martin, Rolex and Glastonbury.

The Saucy Fish Co was a qualifying winner outside the top 20, alongside Porsche, Beats by Dr Dre and Alexander Wang fashion.

The Saucy Fish Co was started in 2010 by owners Seachill with the goal of encouraging customers to eat more fish. The colourful packaging and easy to cook ‘bake in a bag' ideas have proven popular.

Kitguru says: The company are said to hit £35 million in sales this year with a launch planned for America next month.

want to bring the device to market by funding it on Kickstarter. So far it is shaping up well, they have already raised $263,000 of the $100,000 goal they needed.
range

The company have always been grounded in software, and are known for their 360 Panorama application and the move is somewhat radical for the company. The Structure Sensor attaches to the iPad using a bracket and this overlays PrimeSense 3D sensors with the iPad's camera. IR lasers allow the Structure Sensor to see in the dark or invisibly signal another device. The scanning range of the product is between 40 cm and 3.5 meters – ideal for a room or objects.

The Structure Sensor will ship with demonstration applications, some of which are highlighted on the Kickstarter page. The company are more interested in creating a platform for developers in the long run. They are giving access to the low level sensor and there is also an API available for those who just want to use features in their own applications. The Kickstarter campaign also includes packages for developers and hackers.
device

There are some useful applications included with the hardware. The user can scan and export an object to CAD for printing. By simply walking around a room you can create a 3D model and the measurements can be changed as desired. Another supplied application has a virtual pet, which interacts with the furniture. Another application shows the ability of the application to find edges and corners.

The device has been designed for the latest iPad with lightning connector, however the company have drivers available for Android, Windows, OSX and Linux. The device can be hooked in with a USB cable.

The pledge system starts at $349 and they say it will ship in February 2014.

You can see more on the product page here, and on the Kickstarter page here.

Kitguru says: The world's first mobile sensor for mobile devices is certainly getting a lot of attention.

Wang Wanli, analyst with CIMB Securities Limited was interviewed by the Commercial Times. He claimed that Apple will be releasing their iWatch next year and that annual shipments will reach 63.4 million in the first year after launch.

Wanli said that Quanta Computer will split iWatch orders with Inventec on a 60:40 basis. Recommended retail price should be around $199. Apple have not yet confirmed they are even bringing a high tech watch to market. They have however filed an application to register ‘iWatch' as a trademark in Japan.
iwatch

In May, CEO Tim Cook spoke at the AllThingsD conference to say that he wasn't ruling out the possibility of Apple releasing a wearable product. He said “It's an area that's ripe for exploration, it's ripe for us to get excited about. Lots of companies will play in this space.”

The Apple smartwatch is said to operate on its own, or via a connection to the user's smartphone – relaying important information such as incoming emails, texts and phonecalls.

Meanwhile, the race is on to dominate this market, with players such as Samsung, Google and Microsoft aiming to release similar devices.

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) have ruled that Unilever cannot use one of their Piri Piri Pot Noodle online advertisements in its current form and ordered the firm not to use ‘offensive images' in the future.

The company caused an uproar on the Unilever Pot Noodle Facebook Page. They showed a female model in a bikini next to a picture of a Pot Noodle with the text ‘Phwarr, is it me or is it getting hot in here? Hot off. Which one gets you hotter?'
poster

The advertising watchdog said the ad which featured a woman wearing red pants and a revealing red bra was ‘posed in a provocative way'.

Complaints were made against the advert and they were upheld. They ruled ‘We considered the presentation of the woman in a sexual pose and the blatant comparison with the food product was crass and degrading and therefore likely to cause serious offence to some visitors to the Pot Noodle Facebook Page'.

Two other Pot Noodle adverts also received complaints, but the watchdog rejected them.

The constant need to share every single aspect of our lives online extends to new born babies. A new poll found that parents are most likely to share a photograph of the new family member within the space of a single hour.

The most popular platform for sharing images of babies is Facebook, followed by Instagram and Flickr.

Parents surveyed said they shared pictures of their children online to share with distant friends and family but one in five parents said they shared to ‘better' other parents photographs. Only 6 percent of people in the survey said they never uploaded pictures of their children to social media. 64 percent said they did so at least three times a week.

Marc Phelps of the baby photo agency www.posterista.co.uk who commissioned the survey spoke to the Telegraph saying “The fact that a picture of the average newborn is now online within an hour just goes to highlight the enormous impact social media has had on our lives in the past five years, and how prevalent these pages are in helping to keep loved ones informed on the special occasions in our lives, such as the birth of a new child.“However, it is a shame that such a percentage of those asked don’t display their images anywhere else other than on these sites.”

UK officials are considering banning the sale of mobile phones which are designed to look like car key fobs. The BBC reported today that they had been speaking with a government spokesman. The issue is being discussed with the National Trading Standards Board and the Serious Organised Crime Agency.

The NTSB have asked retailers to stop selling the products already. The Time reported that some of the Chinese constructed products were being advertised with prisoners in mind and having a phone in jail is an offence.
Mini-Lamborghini-Car-Key-Shaped-Mobile-Phone-Cell-Phone-2195722

The mobile phones, marketed as ‘the worlds smallest mobile phones' have been available from many online retailers including Amazon. The design ethic is to make them look like car fobs with logos from companies such as BMW, Audi and Porsche. One of the listing on Amazon even said that the phone was ‘easily concealable'. UK newspapers said that one of the mobile phone adverts showed a cartoon of a prisoner behind bars.

The UK Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders have said that they believed the devices were made and sold without the consent of the auto manufacturers.

Prison staff are already making the efforts to detect the devices before convicts are locked in their cells. Phone signals may even be blocked completely in prisons.

More than 7,000 phones and SIM cards were confiscated in prisons in England and Wales last year.

Kitguru says: Do you own one of these phones? Do you think they should be banned?

Two months ago Barnes and Noble said they would be ditching their colour (non E Ink) tablets from their product line, but according to recent reports they have reversed their position. The range includes the Nook Color, the 2011 Nook Tablet and last years Nook HD and Nook HD+.

The company have recently been experiencing some concerns regarding their future. After they announced their plan to ditch some of their tablets, CEO William Lynch handed in his resignation. Chairman Leonard Riggio took on more responsibility within the organisation and considered buying out the companies retail wing. They said yesterday that that was not going to happen. Generally, there does seem to be some confusion in regards to their overall plan and position in the market going forward which is never a good sign.

After extensive market research the new keyboards have adopted dedicated Windows buttons and a split spacebar design.
microsoft-sculpt-keyboards-and-mice-1

The Sculpt Ergonomic Desktop is a keyboard and mouse bundle. The keyboard has been split in the middle to allow the user to rest their hands in a more natural position. The curved shape has been used before by Microsoft, but the new radical design certainly stands out.

Additionally, the number pad has been separated entirely from the main board, meaning you can move it around to suit your desk or typing style. The palm rest is large and cushioned for maximum comfort levels.

The mouse is based around a new design which Microsoft say is to ‘encourage a more natural hand, wrist and forearm posture'. The mouse has a new Windows button which allows the user to navigate straight to the Metro Tile interface within Windows 8.

The price point is set at $129.95, although the keyboard and mouse will be available separately for $80.95 and $59.95 respectively.

Product page is available here.

The Sculpt Comfort Desktop Bundle is another keyboard and mouse pairing. The Comfort Keyboard isn't such a radical design, but it has a curved typing area and a flatter numerical pad section at the right side. The Comfort has a detachable palm rest and split spacebar, half of which is reserved for backspace functionality.

The comfort mouse isn't quite such a radical design either although it has the Windows touch tab for navigating. You can swipe over the Windows Key to view or cycle through open applications.

The price point is set at $79.95, although the keyboard and mouse will be available separately for $59.95 and $39.95 respectively.

The Ford Focus claimed 25,081 registrations in Q1 and has also achieved huge success in emerging markets such as Brazil as registrations climbed 18 percent to 7,227 models. China has 104,065 Focus vehicles registered in Q1 2013.

Roelant de Waard, vice president of marketing, sales and service for Ford of Europe said “Our global Focus has struck a chord with customers around the world because it offers remarkable technologies, excellent fuel economy and performance, super driving dynamics and all at a very competitive price.
2012 Ford Focus

“Continual development has been critical to the Focus’ global success, as demonstrated by the new Focus 1.0-litre EcoBoost with 99 g/km CO2 that will launch in Europe early next year. More powerful than a first generation Ford Focus with a 1.6-litre engine from less than 10 years ago while producing 47 per cent less CO2, it’s a testament to Focus development never standing still.”

A 17 year old from Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland has taken his own life after a Skype conversation with someone pretending to be a girl, the same age. Daniel Perry was the victim of a chat ‘hijack'.

According to newspaper reports, A gang hijacked his Skype chat and threatened to show the video to his family and friends, unless he paid them off.

Child welfare agencies are claiming that they are getting dozens of calls every week from suicidal children as young as 11, who are caught in a similar situation. The reports indicate that blackmailers are asking for naked pictures or strip teases, which they record. They then threaten to share the media with parents or other pupils in school. Mechanic Daniel Perry was told to place money in a specific account, or he would be ‘better off dead'.

Within an hour of the threat, he walked to the Forth Road Bridge and jumped to his death. Apparently the teenager was embarrassed and felt he had let everyone down. A source close to the family spoke to the Daily Mail, and you can read the conversation on this page.

The Daily Mail say that just before he killed himself, he asked blackmailers ‘what can I do to stop you showing this to my family?'.

When a lifeboat crew found his body later he was still alive, but died shortly afterwards.

This is the latest death in the news, after 14 year old Hannah Smith hanged herself in her bedroom after suffered months of abuse from trolls on the website Ask.fm.

The TopoCharger from Trimble Outdoors ships with a full set of topographical maps for 49 US states with 15 zoom levels, from 1:250 to 1:24. A specialised application is also supplied to work with the maps.

The map set is stored in a removable chip at the bottom of the TopoCharger case and the idea is that the user will buy the device for their home state, or whatever location you want to explore. You then purchase other state oriented map cards as needed and switch them over.
trimbletopocharger-2

The ‘charger' part of the name, may sound misleading, but the company have also built a 1,440mAh battery into the case to help double the iPhone life.

The 85g case is designed to fit the iPhone 4, 4S and 5 models, so those with an older model are out of luck. It will launch in America priced at $149. Versions for larger states such as Texas and California need to pay a little extra, $169.

If you own an Android phone then you can't use the case, but the maps are available via SD and microSD cards. Only Alaska isn't supported on Android. An application is supplied for Android OS as well.

You can read more about this, over here.

Kitguru says: No sign of UK support yet.

Facebook have acquired the company responsible for speech translation application Jibbigo. Mobile Technologies are based in Pittsburgh and it signals a move for Facebook into strengthening their platform.

Facebook have said that they will continue to support Jibbigo for ‘the time being'. The application was launched in 2009 and allows the user to select from over 25 languages, record a voice snippet in that language or key in some text directly. The software will then handle a translation on screen and even read it aloud in a language you have selected.

The application was actively used by people travelling and even for international health care workers. There was also no need for a wifi or data connection.

Some of the team will be joining the Facebook engineering teams in Menlo Park although Techcrunch said that they did not detail numbers or the exact terms of the deal.
jibbigo

Facebook's Tom Stocky wrote on Facebook ‘I’m excited to announce that we’ve agreed to acquire Mobile Technologies, a company with an amazing team that’s behind some of the world’s leading speech recognition and machine translation technology.'

The Jibbigo team wrote ‘Facebook, with its mission to make the world more open and connected, provides the perfect platform to apply our technology at a truly global scale.'

The possibilities in the future are obvious. Facebook could handle automatic translation, allowing people in different countries to chat directly without the need for Google translate or similar. News could also be taken in one language and displayed in another automatically to suit the user. Facebook have already tried to translate news feeds and comments with the help of Microsoft's Bing, which also powers translation for Twitter.

Kitguru says: Seems like a good move forward for Facebook.

If you or your child is having difficulty standing up straight then you may need to blame your console. The effects of hunching over to play with smartphones, consoles and tablets have created what two Dutch orthopaedic experts are calling ‘Game Boy Back'. These back problems are normally associated with older adults who have been working hard for years.

Research was published in the Dutch medical journal Medisch Contact in which they found a rise in spinal curvature between 8 to 18 year olds. The doctors then spoke with the Irish Times to explain that herniated discs and curvature of the spine was last seen in children over 100 years ago. Can technology really be responsible for the problems?
bad-posture-734691

Andre Soeterbroek, one of the men in charge of the research said “In those days, kids got weak backs from child labour; now they’re getting it from these devices. It makes no difference to the body whether you’re hunched over in a cigar factory or spending eight hours over an iPad.”

We can now include ‘Game Boy Back' among problems such as ‘text neck' and ‘Blackberry thumb'.

How can you stop the problem? practise good posture when gaming and don't slouch for hours on end. Seems pretty logical to us.

According to latest reports, Norway's government are blocking Apple from taking photographs of their capital city Oslo. Apple are wanting to take 3D images for their Maps application, according to local media.

Newspaper Aftenposten say that there are security concerns about access to detailed views of government buildings and anyone wishing to fly over Oslo to take pictures requires a license from the authorities. Apple's request has been declined according to official documents.

Satellite imagery is not protected according to the BBC. Nokia have some 3D imagery of Oslo in their maps software, but only for parts of the city.

Security in Norway is very strict now, since Anders Breivik managed to plant a bomb outside government premises in the capital before carrying out additional kills in a youth camp several years ago.

The government cannot protect against satellite images, but higher resolution images taken from a plane need express permission from the government. Even Norwegian companies such as Gule Sider have been allowed to take aerial pictures, with gaps in the content available on their navigation website.

Kitguru says: Aftenposten add that neither the CIA headquarters in Langley, or the US Department of Defence in Arlington have 3D map details via the Apple software.

Security researchers at Trustwave have revealed a vulnerability with high tech Japanese toilets. The issue means that anyone who downloads the Inax Satis application can control any high tech toilet.

According to Trustwave all Inax Satis Bluetooth toilets have the same Bluetooth Pin (0000) hardcoded. Anyone who downloads the application is able to control any toilet within range. They say they have warned Inax three times since their discovery in June.
high tech toilet

If you download the application and enter the hardcoded PIN then anyone within range of a toilet with an Android phone can access the toilets. The user could flush the toilet, get information on how many times it has been used and other detailed, slightly unappealing information.

Trustwave also added that a rogue user could control functions such as the drying functions and the toilet's bidet. While jinks could be performed on a colleague, such as flushing when unexpected there is a chance of more serious issues. The toilets could be triggered to continually flush, flooding the area.

Kitguru says: Low tech toilets for the win.

Corgi International have teamed up with Horizon Fuel Cell Technologies to create the new i-H2GO remote controlled car, with a difference.

The new car ships with a photovoltaic panel and a refuelling station. Ordinary water is poured into the station and the panel supplies the power to electrolyze the water, splitting it into oxygen and hydrogen. This hydrogen is then pushed into the car which converts it into electricity. For those who live in a sun free environment then the refuelling station can be powered by a USB cable.
i-h2go-1

The latest news was released to highlight that the car can be controlled over Wi-Fi via a proprietary application available soon for iOS and Android smartphones. The on screen controls will allow for steering and acceleration adjustments or even control the car in Gyro mode. Much like a Nintendo controller, the car can be steered by moving the phone and using it like a wheel.

The kit is now available in America as a preorder for $180 and it is set to ship on August 15th.

Many people are saying that the Apple iPhone screen needs to get larger. When you look at the latest Android phones such as the HTC One, Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note it is beginning to look tiny. A new report suggests that Apple may be listening to feedback.

The Wall Street Journal are quoting sources who claim Apple are testing larger screens for both the iPhone and iPad. The sources are saying that the new iPhone screen is ‘larger than 4 inches', although no details have been leaked yet. If the rumours are correct then Apple are also playing with a 13 inch iPad screen.

Samsung have 4.8 inch and 5 inch screens on their Galaxy S3 and Galaxy S4 smartphones. The iPhone 5 screen is 63 percent the size of the S4 model – meaning that Apple fans who want a larger screen to compete with Android phones have been out of luck.

We are surprised at the report suggesting a bigger iPad, almost 13 inches diagonally. Sources claim Apple may be trialing a 13 inch Macbook touchscreen model that runs iOS. Again, this report suggests Apple are only testing prototypes, many of which never reach retail.

Apple have declined to comment on the information, although that is not a shock. They never do.

Men may be seen globally as being most interested in new technology but UK research has detailed that more women are using tablets than men.

A survey of 3,824 British adults by YouGov show that women claim 52 percent of tablet market share in the UK, up from 43 percent from a year ago. The percentage owned by men has dropped from 57 percent to 48 percent.

The research shows that women have been getting their hands on older devices such as the iPad 1 and iPad 2 as well as the newer iPad Mini, which is a popular device for the female audience. Women are claiming 60 percent of iPad 1 and iPad 2 ownership and 58 percent ownership of the iPad Mini.

The iPad Mini, popular with the female audience in the UK
The iPad Mini, popular with the female audience in the UK

John Gilbert, Lead Director at YouGov Technology and Telecoms said “The early adopters of tablets have typically been affluent males. As they buy the latest models, they have placed their old devices on to the secondary market or give them to other members of their household. A growing number of females and under-35s own older tablets, such as the iPad 1 and 2 while affluent males have the more recent iPad 3 and 4 and Samsung devices.”

The biggest growth group of tablet ownership has been in the 18-34 year old age group. The only age group in fact which has seen a decline has been in the over 55's, dropping from 42 percent to 31 percent.

22 percent of the adult population in the United Kingdom now own a tablet, up from 18 percent in the last quarter. 19 percent of the polled ‘non tablet' group are said to be interested in getting a tablet sometime in the future.

Kitguru says: A small poll number to claim overall UK statistics, but interesting nonetheless.

If you like napping when you are travelling then the new NapAnywhere pillow might just be the next gadget on your shortlist. The new design is designed to support your neck, even when sitting straight up. Ideal for those plane flights. Some of our staff would feel right at home using one of these even during the day during working hours.

Creator Ravi Shamaiengar spoke out about the problems faced by commuters on aircraft, who need to sleep. He said “Like many, I would use a U-shaped neck pillow. Unfortunately, the support I needed just wasn't there.”
screenshot187

NapAnywhere starts as a flat disc and once it is opened the top of the pillow forms a shelf where the head can be rested, with support. The bottom curves over the shoulder. The area between this allows the weight to be distributed around the shoulder and stops the head drooping which leads to neck pain and problems.

The pillow also is supplied with an adjustable strap with holds everything in place while sleeping. The top of the pillow is warm to the touch and the other side feels cool. It weighs only 230 g and it folds flat for easy transportation in a bag.
screenshot186

Ravi Shamaiengar is looking for funding on KickStarter. The minimum pledge is $39, and you receive a pillow at this price. So far he has raised $22,000 of the $40,000 amount, with only 9 days to go. If you want to help him, head over here. The official website is also a mine of useful information – which you can see here.

Kitguru says: A useful product to have on those long journeys? Or just lazy enough to use it during the normal working day?

The compact camera market is struggling thanks to the ever increasing quality of smartphone cameras. Nikon President Makoto Kimura told Bloomberg his company is aware of the trend and wants to create a series of new products aimed at the bigger market. He hinted that they may consider releasing a ‘non camera consumer product.'

Demand is still improving for high end interchangeable lens cameras but Kimura said that the Nikon imaging division and a new business team are developing products which it hopes will ‘change the concept of cameras'. Some analysts are thinking that Nikon may even be developing a smartphone.

Gizmag tried to contact Nikon for more details and got the following response “Mr Kimura’s comments to Bloomberg were meant to convey his beliefs that, as the smart device market has been growing, more people are getting used to taking pictures and movies. His point was that Nikon must consider changes happening in the market and keep proposing attractive products.Mr Kimura’s comment to Bloomberg that he didn’t decline any possibilities for the future were not a promise of a particular unannounced product which Nikon will never comment on.”

The Apple Store is celebrating their 5th birthday and the company are giving away 5 applications and games, free of charge to everyone.

Apple have grown in the last 10 years to the world's most successful technology company. In 2007 they launched their first mobile phone and it was an immediate success. At the launch event Steve Jobs said “Today Apple reinvents the phone.”

6 years later, the iPhone still sells well, but is facing stiffer competition from competitors such as Samsung.

Part of Apple's success has to be attributed to the App Store, which was launched alongside the second iPhone and it changed the market forever. By giving application development to the end user they sparked a raft of great programs which sold millions and made the creators very rich people indeed. Apple cleverly had a system in place to keep 30% of the money generated, lining their coffers with billions of dollars.

Recently the 50 billionth application was downloaded.

The Wall Street Journal have said that Google will be spending a whopping $500 million marketing their flagship smartphone of the Motorola Mobility unit. This figure is greater than the marketing budgets of both Apple and Samsung, the smartphone market leaders.

The Moto X phone is due out sometime in Q3, although dates have yet to be confirmed. This ‘nudge' proves that the company are serious about taking market share from both Apple and Samsung.

The report says “What many people don’t realize about Google is that it has become a master of the nudge. Everything from Android itself (which doesn’t make any money directly) to its Nexus phones and tablets (which are reputed to be doing no better than breakeven), from its 2008 bid for radio spectrum (which it lost, perhaps purposely, to get Verizon and others to buy it and eventually expand wireless Internet access) to its new fiber broadband service in various cities–all those moves were intended to push other developers, hardware partners, carriers, and competitors to improve their offerings. And the better the hardware, software, and Internet access they provide, the better Google’s business does.”

Motorola cost Google $12 billion so their focus is well placed. Why wouldn't you support such a hefty takeover deal by pushing the flagship product globally?
Motorola_X_phone_concept-490x489

The Moto X phone is said to be on a par with the iPhone 5, Samsung Galaxy S4 and the HTC One, costing around $200 in the US with a contract deal, or $600 without.

The Verge however say that the pricing will be more ‘midrange', costing just $199 off contract. We aren't quite sure how Google could sell a $200 unlocked phone that could compete against the market leaders.

Google are said to have been able to stop carriers installing a range of bloatware on their smartphones and to offer the Moto X with a ‘standard' Android install.

Forbes say “The other great shortcoming of Android phones is that many cannot be updated to the latest software until the carrier decides to allow it. That has led to fragmentation of Android and accompanying annoyance by users who may or may not get the latest features and apps on their phones. So by setting a shining example of a high-end smartphone that works like Google intended Android to work, the company could push the entire industry toward better software, more frequent updates, and thus faster innovation.”

Kitguru says: Q4 the time for Moto X? We can't help but feel the name sounds more like an off road Ducati bike.

The post Next gen Kindle Fire will have sharper display, less weight first appeared on KitGuru.]]>
Amazon are due to release new Kindle Fires later this year, based on release dates for the previous two years. A new report claims that the new Kindle tablets will be improved.

BGR leaked the news that Amazon will be releasing upgraded versions of their three tablets – The Kindle Fire 7″. The Kindle Fire HD 7″ and the Kindle Fire HD 8.9″.

The main focus for Amazon with the next batch will be improving the screen resolution. Amazon are said to be increasing the 7 inch resolution to 1280×800 (216 pixels per inch) and increase from 1024×600. The 7 inch Kindle Fire HD will get an increase from 1280×800 to 1920×1200 (323 pixels per inch). The Kindle Fire HD 8.9″ will get a resolution of 2560×1600, the native resolution of a 30 inch PC monitor. This has a pixel count of 339 PPI. This is even higher than the Retina iPad's 264 PPI and the Nexus 10's 299 PPI.
amazon-sign-kindle-fire

Amazon are reportedly redesigning the shell, reducing the weight and creating more angular edges. The tablet volume and power buttons are also being moved to the sloping area on the back, out of the way of accidental touches. BGR's sources say this is a huge step forward as it was a problem with the current design.

Amazon want to hit the same price points as before, which may be difficult considering the screen improvements. We would imagine CEO Jeff Bezos will be making an official announcement sometime in Q3.

Kitguru says: Impressive specs, if they turn out to be right.

A couple of days ago, the police in London seized a £300,000 Lamborghini Aventador because it was being driven illegally in Knightsbridge. The driver didn't have insurance for the car.

The ultra high performance car, in bright purple is currently being displayed outside Scotland Yard and the police are still working out if charges will be brought against the driver. There is a possibility that the car could be destroyed as well.

The Met Office issued a statement which said that the Lamborghini was one of a handful of supercars seized by offices as part of ‘Operation Cubo'. A spokesman said “We have been seizing many types of cars, but sports cars have been among them.”We have had a few Porsches, BMW X5s, and a Ferrari – that one got crushed and in fact the vast majority of them are.”

Police said that Operation Cubo has taken place across 20 separate days and 656 vehicles have been seized in one single day in June. A total of 10,318 vehicles have been seized as part of this operation since October 2011.
