Samsung announces first Intel Lakefield powered notebook

A new range of Samsung Galaxy book S notebooks has been unveiled featuring Intel Lakefield processors. The new range of Galaxy book S devices are equipped with the latest dynamic Intel processors with Hybrid Technology.

Samsung’s new Galaxy Book S is intended to provide a seamless experience across devices and aimed at users who are looking for a device that provides high productivity, a wide range of connectivity options and continuity across multiple devices and operating system, to help become more productive in a shorter space of time.

“The way we work has shifted and it's important we have computing devices that can adapt to this new working style. Users utilize multiple devices throughout their day to accomplish tasks, and demand that those devices provide them with enough flexibility to remain on the move and available,” said Woncheol Chai, SVP and Head of Product Planning Team, Mobile Communications Business, Samsung Electronics.

Galaxy Book S is the first device to offer this new Intel processor with Foveros 3D stacking technology and Hybrid Architecture that provides efficient high performance in a notebook. The Intel Lakefield processor supports full Windows 10 application compatibility and can intelligently balance multiple processes while conserving battery power when not in use.

In terms of specification of the Galaxy Book S, it is equipped with up to 512 GB of eUFS storage with an additional up to 1 TB storage via a MicroSD slot. A rich selection of connectivity option including  Wi-Fi 6 (Gig+), LTE (Cat 16) and Bluetooth 5.0. The Galaxy Book S also includes a Fingerprint Sensor, Ambient Light Sensor and Hall Sensor, as well as USB Type-C connectivity and 8GB RAM.

The Galaxy Book S is equipped with a 13.3-inch TFT LCD display powered by Intel UHD Graphics with an outdoor brightness boost of 600 nits by using a two-key shortcut. All this performance is housed inside an extremely thin chassis that measures just 11.8 mm at its thickest point and weighs in at a mere 950g. The Galaxy Book S is also available in a selection two shades of colour,  Earthy Gold and Mercury Grey.

Availability and pricing of the Samsung Galaxy Book S with Intel Lakefield processors is still to be revealed.
