Samsung Display reportedly working on OLED tech for 2022 iPads

Ever since Apple first began using OLED displays on the iPhone in 2017,  we’ve been hearing rumours about the first OLED display iPad. Apple went in a different direction with its 2021 iPad Pro refresh, adding a Mini-LED display. However, supply chain sources still claim that OLED equipped iPads are on the way.

Korean supply chain news outlet, The Elec, has updated its reporting on next year's iPads. According to supply chain sources, Samsung is currently developing upgrades to its manufacturing methods in preparation for 10-inch OLED iPads in 2022. Apparently, Samsung is expecting an increased order for OLED panels from Apple.

As we've previously heard, Apple's plan is to apparently introduce OLED displays on the smaller iPad models next year, before bringing them to the 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Pro models in 2023. Standard iPads would use rigid OLED panels, while the iPad Pro models would use flexible OLED.

This all lines up with comments from Apple analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, who as 9to5Mac points out, stated that OLED iPads would be coming in 2022 back in March.
