EK launches Alder Lake-ready Quantum Velocity² D-RGB water blocks

With Alder Lake-S processors about to release, it's time to see which type of cooling solutions we will have to cool the new CPUs at launch. Besides air coolers and AIO solutions, it looks like we can also consider building custom liquid loops, as EK has just introduced LGA1700-compatible water blocks, the Quantum Velocity² D-RGB.

Using a cooling engine specifically designed for LGA1700-based CPUs, the Quantum Velocity² D-RGB water blocks offer a low hydraulic flow restriction and high performance. The lathe-turned cold plate is made with precision and has a specific geometry to cover the IHS while also pressuring the die area optimally.

EK's new water blocks focus use a patent-pending EK-Exact Mount mounting system, offering an easy-to-use but aesthetically pleasing mounting mechanism. Despite being available in 5 variants, all offer similar performance. Part of the reason is that all come with a cold plate made of 99.99% pure electrolytic copper, except for the Copper + Acetal version that comes with a bare copper cold plate.

The new line of Quantum Velocity² water blocks will abide by the EK-Matrix7 initiative, EK's standard to make custom loops easier to build by implementing a 7mm-increment rule to adjust height and distance between ports. Moreover, it features 6x D-RGB LEDs users can synchronise with the addressable RGB sync technologies from most motherboard manufacturers.

The EK-Quantum Velocity² will be available starting mid-November and can only be mounted on Intel LGA 1700 socket and Alder Lake CPUs. Pricing varies depending on the water block, as the Nickel + Plexi, Nickel + Acetal, and Copper + Acetal variants cost €119.90, while the Nickel + Satin Titanium and Full Nickel models go for €159.90.
