CES 2019: ASRock teams up with Cooler Master and TEAMGROUP in Phantom Gaming Alliance

Motherboard and graphics card manufacturer ASRock has taken to CES 2019 to unveil its brand new partnership with Cooler Master and memory maker TEAMGROUP.  Launching its new Phantom Gaming line of motherboards, this newfound partnership program will see a range of certified hardware adopt a unified aesthetic, starting with new chassis, CPU coolers, RAM and SSD storage.

ASRock’s Phantom Gaming brand was born from the ashes of its previous Fatal1ty line-up, which ended at the launch of Intel’s Z390 chipset. Housing features such as 2.5 G Realtek Gaming NIC, the initial target market is premium systems with its newly branded gaming motherboards, emphasising on its tried and tested partners.

Cooler Master offers the majority of products in the first wave, starting with two Phantom Gaming Edition Chassis. Users can choose between a Cooler Master MasterCase H500P Mesh or Cooler Master MasterBox K500 Phantom Gaming Edition, redesigned with a black and grey aesthetic and paired with Phantom Gaming’s silver/red PG logo on the right side.

Air cooling enthusiasts will have yet another option from Cooler Master’s renowned Hyper 212 RGB Phantom Gaming Edition, proudly displaying the PG logo in the centre. If watercooling is more your thing, the MasterLiquid ML240R RGB Phantom Gaming Edition is getting the same treatment.

“We are excited to introduce products visually designed to align with the Phantom Gaming line. The Hyper 212 RGB and ML240R RGB Phantom Gaming Edition are geared towards PC gamers looking to maximize their cooling performance while looking good,” said Dennis Liu, Global Product Marketing Manager for Thermal Solutions at Cooler Master. “By enhancing the PC building experience and guaranteeing the best reliability during hardcore gaming sessions, this new alliance marks an important step toward our vision,” added Case Business Unit GM, Matteo Stracciari.

On the memory front, TEAMGROUP is offering the T-FORCE XCALIBUR Phantom Gaming RGB Memory Module. While it isn’t the first RGB-clad RAM to hit the market, its colourful heatsink is the most striking feature. The lighting is viewable from angles up to 120° and can be synchronised with ASRock’s Polychrome RGB Sync feature.

TEAMGROUP will make this memory available in three different 16GB configurations: DDR4-3200 CL16 18-18-38, DDR4-3600 CL18 20-20-44 and DDR4-4000 CL18. These will be running at 1.35V and all support XMP 2.0 profiles.  DDR4-3200 2x8GB kit will set consumers back $175, while the DDR4-3600 2x8GB model is set to cost $215. No pricing has been allocated to the high-end DDR4-4000 kits, but it is believed that they will cost a considerable amount more.

The T-FORCE DELTA Phantom Gaming RGB SSD is similarly eye-catching, updating its previous Delta RGB line with the Phantom Gaming logo and Polychrome RGB Sync compatibility. The addressable lighting takes up the majority of the face, but will require 5 V ADD headers in order to run.

TEAMGROUP will release the T-FORCE DELTA Phantom Gaming RGB SSD in 250 GB, 500 GB and 1 TB models, priced at $72, $112 and $202 respectively. It remains to be seen when these new components will hit shelves.

“In order to provide a higher quality of PC hardware and gaming experience for gamers, TEAMGROUP T-FORCE decided to join the Phantom Gaming Alliance, established by ASRock. The T-FORCE Phantom Gaming series of memory module and SSD have excellent performance and stability through strictly tested and is certified by Phantom Gaming Alliance to ensure gamers can have the best gaming experience,” said Ken Cho, Vice President, T-FORCE  and Sales Div. of TEAMGROUP.

KitGuru Says: Alongside unifying the theme of the new roster, I particularly like how each component is tried and tested, ensuring compatibility and the best performance. I’ve always advocated collaboration in the industry and it’ll be interesting to see where this partnership is headed in the future.
