IFA 2019: Acer shows off new Intel 10th Gen laptops, Nvidia Quadro, $14,000 gaming chair and more

LEO is over at IFA in Berlin this week. Today, he had the chance to stop by at the Acer suite, featuring the new Swift-series laptops with Intel 10th Gen CPUs, the $14,000 Thronos Gaming Chair and new ConceptD laptops for creators. We also have a special guest for this one, with Tom The Tech Chap stopping by to chat with Leo about Ice Lake and Iris Pro graphics.

The Thronos Gaming Chair was one of the few bits of gaming gear we got to take a look at. This is less of a chair and more of a battlestation, with a big massaging chair, monitor mounting points, and a place to put your keyboard and mouse. It is expensive though, coming in at $14,000. However, we have heard talk of a cheaper ‘Thronos Air' that could be coming later.

The new Swift 3 and Swift 5 laptops are on the way, with the former featuring a 10th Gen Intel Core i5 and the latter housing an Intel 10th Gen Core i7. Both also use Nvidia MX250 graphics, rather than just relying on Intel's integrated Iris Pro graphics.

The ConceptD range that launched earlier this year now has more GPU options to coincide with Nvidia's RTX Studio initiative. The ConceptD 3 Pro can now be configured with a Quadro T1000, the ConceptD 5 Pro can go up to an RTX Quadro 3000 and the standard ConceptD 5 can go up to an RTX 2060. There is also a non-pro ConceptD 3 with a GTX 1650 GPU under the hood.

The C250i is a tiny, portable 1080p projector with built-in speakers, bluetooth and up to 5 hours of battery life. Leo seems quite impressed by it so far, so we'll be looking forward to getting more hands-on time in the future.

KitGuru Says: A lot of new product launches have come from Acer at IFA this year. Is there anything in particular that caught your eye?
