Assassin’s Creed Origins Denuvo finally cracked, potentially relieving system stress

Since its release three months ago, Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Origins has been sitting safely out of the hands of pirates thanks to Denuvo DRM. Italian hacking group CPY has announced that it has finally cracked it, however, offering hope to those that have their CPUs borked by the intensive title.

The announcement came at the back end of last week, with CPY taking to the CrackWatch subreddit, much to the joy of those who have been waiting and watching. The rejoicing doesn’t come at the expense of the title or potential lost sales due to the want to pirate the game, however, but more so geared towards Ubisoft’s controversial decision to implement multiple layers of security that have reportedly been a drain on system resources.

Particularly, users have been reporting significant CPU usage when Assassin’s Creed Origins is running, and while it can be a breath-taking title in terms of graphics, most believe it to be the fault of Denuvo 4.8, VMProtect and Uplay’s standard security layered on top of one another.

While Assassin’s Creed Origins has impressively lasted a lot longer than other titles lately in terms of the length of time it’s taken to crack its anti-piracy measure, this might result in the removal of Denuvo and VMProtect completely, potentially relieving system stress of those that have bought it legitimately. For now, however, both layers of protection are still included in the latest release.

KitGuru Says: The title is still likely to take a considerable amount of resources given its open-world gameplay, great graphics and fluid movement, however this will hopefully alleviate the pressure. Have you experienced issues while running Assassin’s Creed Origins on PC?
