Dragon Age Dreadwolf reportedly has God of War inspired combat

We've not seen many Dragon Age leaks in recent years. While BioWare has announced Dreadwolf as the next game in the series, we still don't have a release date and gameplay details are shrouded in mystery. Some of the fog may have lifted over the weekend thanks to a playtest leak.

Over on the Dragon Age subreddit, a user shared screengrabs apparently taken from a leaked gameplay video from an alpha test build of Dreadwolf. The link to the screenshots has since been removed, as has a GIF purportedly showing combat. but the text of the post contains details. The information was posted in response to an insider-gaming article, which claimed that Dreadwolf would now be a ‘hack and slash' game.

According to the leak, BioWare has taken inspiration from God of War (2018), leading to a new real-time combat system with a standard combo, as well as special abilities and an ultimate ability. Animations have apparently been greatly improved over past BioWare games to help bring this new combat system to life.

While all of this sounds promising, it is apparently unlikely that the game will be ready to release this year, which goes against what we've heard in previous rumours. The extra time may be required due to the decision to pivot away from multiplayer in 2021.

KitGuru Says: Dreadwolf may not end up making it out this year, but it is also worth noting that since the apparent gameplay video is being kept private, we can't really verify this information.
