Intel’s 8th generation CPUs are going to be revealed this month, release later this year

Intel is having a busy week, not only has the company announced the launch date and specs for the rest of its Core i9 CPU lineup but it has also announced that soon, it will be showing off its 8th generation core processors for the first time. We have been hearing bits and pieces of information regarding Coffee Lake for a while now but in just a few weeks time, Intel will be making things official.

In a news release sent out today, Intel said that it will unveil the 8th generation Core processor family live on Facebook, timing it with the US Solar Eclipse. Intel will have “those who are at the centre of creating this technology” speak on the day to explain what this latest microarchitecture update improves.

Over the last few weeks, rumours have claimed that Intel’s 8th generation CPUs will see Core i5 and Core i7 parts jump to six-cores for the first time. Intel may also be planning to produce six-core 8th gen chips for laptops too. Unfortunately for those perhaps looking to upgrade from Kaby Lake, according to ASRock, Intel’s Coffee Lake CPUs won’t support the Z270 platform, requiring a new motherboard.

At Intel’s official live unveiling of Coffee Lake, we will hopefully get confirmation or denial on some of those rumours, ahead of Intel’s planned launch for this holiday season. The live stream starts at 8AM PDT on the 21st of August, which will be 15:00PM here in the UK and 16:00PM in the rest of Europe.
