Danganronpa 2 and Loot River headline latest Xbox Game Pass update

It's the first week of the month, which means we're getting a new wave of Xbox Game Pass titles announced today. Previous months were headlined by the likes of MLB: The Show 22, Weird West, Life is Strange and Guardians of the Galaxy. For May, we're getting a boost in Japanese games, thanks to titles like Eiyuden Chronicle Rising and Danganronpa 2, as well as a handful of indie titles.

The first half of May will see seven games added to the Xbox Game Pass library. It is also worth noting that there was a late addition to the library in April – NBA 2K22, including both the Xbox Series X/S version of the game and the Xbox One version. There aren't many gameplay differences between the two, but the next-gen version does have a different MyPlayer campaign, as well as a different online hub area. Other modes, like MyTeam and MyLeague remain the same across both versions.

Here is the full list of titles coming to Xbox Game Pass for the first half of May:

  • Loot River (Cloud, Console and PC) – Available today
  • Trek to Yomi (Cloud, Console and PC) – May 5th
  • Citizen Sleeper (Cloud, Console and PC) – May 5th
  • Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair Anniversary Edition (Cloud, Console and PC) – May 10th
  • Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising (Cloud, Console and PC) – May 10th
  • This War of Mine: Final Cut (Cloud, Console and PC) – May 10th
  • NHL 22 (Console) – May 12th

As always, there are some games leaving the service this month to make room for newer titles. On the 10th of May, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas – Definitive Edition will be removed from Game Pass. On the 15th of May, we'll see Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD, Enter The Gungeon, Steep, Remnant: From the Ashes, The Catch: Carp and Coarse and The Wild at Heart all leaving Game Pass.

In a couple of weeks, we'll see the next wave of titles announced. We would expect late May and early June to be a little quieter for Game Pass, as Microsoft will likely be saving some big Game Pass announcements and reveals for its upcoming Xbox showcase in June.

KitGuru Says: One thing Game Pass has been great for is discoverability. I don't often pick up new indie games, but with Game Pass, I end up trying out quite a few of them. Will you be downloading any of this month's new Game Pass titles?
