Renders show off the OnePlus 6T ahead of October launch

While the OnePlus 6T is expected to carry a similar price to performance to its predecessors, the smartphone is set to be a divisive iterative upgrade being the first in the firm’s line-up to drop the 3.5mm headphone jack. Now, an incredibly official-looking render gives us our first look into what a OnePlus flagship looks like without the legacy technology.

Serial smartphone leaker OnLeaks has an outstanding track record regarding the authenticity of his material ahead of official announcements, teaming up with MySmartPrice to share a 360-degree render video of what the OnePlus 6T is expected to look like. Every angle is reminiscent of Oppo’s edge-to-edge water drop notched design featured on the F9 and R17, protruding onto a 6.4in 1080×2340 resolution Optic AMOLED display.

There is a distinct lack of a physical fingerprint sensor, corroborating rumours that OnePlus has moved its biometric security underneath the screen. Of course, no 3.5mm headphone jack can be seen on the underside, which is to be expected after OnePlus announced it would finally be ditching the aging technology – much to the displeasure of some fans.

The newest leak claims that the OnePlus 6T will be slightly thicker than its predecessor, coming in at 8.2mm thick. Under the hood sits a 2.8GHz Snapdragon 845 CPU and an Adreno 630 GPU, with the option to choose between 6GB or 8GB RAM and 64GB and 128GB storage models. The rear camera is positioned vertically, an increasingly popular choice, with a 16MP primary and 20MP secondary lens.

Nothing is official just yet, however, so readers are advised to take this with a pinch of salt until its October 17th launch date.

KitGuru Says: While it’s a shame that the 3.5mm headphone jack will no longer be featured, there will be an adapter provided within the box to make use of any compatible pair of headphones. What do you think of the supposed look of the OnePlus 6T?
