AMD discontinues StoreMI storage acceleration tool, will release a replacement this year

Back in 2018, AMD launched its 2nd Gen Ryzen processors and also introduced new features for AM4 motherboards. One such feature was ‘StoreMI', which allowed you to set up a fast cache on an SSD to help boost loading times on a HDD. Now, StoreMI is being discontinued, although a replacement is on the way.

As of March 31st 2020, StoreMI is no longer available to download from AMD and while those who currently have it installed can continue to use it, AMD is not planning any additional support or updates.

In the meantime, AMD is working on a replacement solution for storage acceleration. That new software is planned to release in Q2 2020, so any time before the end of June. That release window could slip though, particularly with COVID-19 hampering businesses around the world.

You may find StoreMI on a mirror site for download but of course, AMD has not authorised these websites as distributors of the software and can't guarantee its authenticity.

KitGuru Says: StoreMI didn't garner much chatter over the years, so it will be interesting to see AMD's new and improved solution. Did any of you use StoreMI at all? What did you think of it?
