Sea of Thieves: Voyage of a Lifetime documentary announced

In recent years we have seen a greater effort by both studios and publishers to document the development process for a wide variety of games. Following the recent release of the 23-hour long documentary chronicling the development of Psychonauts 2, Microsoft has now announced that a Sea of Thieves documentary is set to premiere later this month.

Sea of Thieves recently reached its 5th anniversary and as part of the celebrations it was announced that a Sea of Thieves documentary is on its way. Dubbed “Sea of Thieves: Voyage of a Lifetime” a trailer for the documentary has been released, with the description reading as follows:

“Introducing Sea of Thieves: Voyage of a Lifetime! From never before seen prototype footage to developers and fans discussing what it means to #BeMorePirate, mark your calendars and join us on March 20th to celebrate five years of the seas we share with this brand new documentary.”

As noted, the documentary will go live on the 20th of March and will be free to watch on YouTube via the official Sea of Thieves channel. While it will be hard to surpass the likes of Double Fine PsychOdyssey – a 23-hour long documentary on the development of Psychonauts 2 – any insight into the innerworkings of the video games that we love is always highly welcome and appreciated.

It will be exciting to see what new details we learn about Sea of Thieves when the Voyage of a Lifetime documentary goes live on the 20th of March.
