Bethesda will support Fallout 76 for at least 2 more years

When Fallout 76 first launched, it received near universal criticism, owing to the game’s technical issues, lack of character and more. Since its release in 2018 however, Bethesda has been slowly working on the game, adding more and more content. Following the latest ‘Steel Reign’ update, the team announced that it isn’t done yet, with at least 2 more years of content mapped out.

Fallout 76 recently received its Steel Reign update, which “concludes the story of The Brotherhood, introducing all new quests, locations, NPCs, and powerful new rewards”. Steel Reign represents the 8th major update to Fallout 76 – previous updates of which have included adding NPCs to the game, improving combat, and adding a litany of new story content.

While Bethesda has already road mapped the rest of 2021, revealing another update (named ‘Worlds Are Changing') in Fall of 2021, and ‘Tales From the Stars’ in Winter, it seems Bethesda Game Studios has even more planned for the game.

Speaking to Newsweek, the Lead Producer for Fallout 76, Jeff Gardiner, revealed that “There is a lot more coming to 76. Mark [Tucker, Design Director] and I are roadmapping out the next two years, so it's a really exciting time.”

With Fallout 76 launching to universally negative reviews, and all eyes on Bethesda Game Studios’ next project – Starfield – it is both surprising and encouraging to see the team continuing to work on Fallout 76, slowly but surely taking the game from a disappointment to something the team can be proud of – à la No Man’s Sky.
