How does a 21.5 inch non-portable tablet sound?

A little known company based out of Japan has come up with one of the stranger devices I have seen in some time. Kouziro has just announced the FT103; a 21.5 inch Android tablet. If you ever wanted your desktop monitor in your lap then look no further.

Even though it's labelled as a tablet, it only supports landscape orientation, has HDMI input (so it could double as your desktop monitor after all,) and best of all, it doesn't even have a battery. The glossy display has a Full HD resolution and claims a contrast ratio of 1000:1. It weighs about 5 KG and is 2.5cm thick. Fortunately it does have the typical tablet additions such as two full size USB ports, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and a webcam.

Running the show is a TI OMAP 1 GHz dual-core processor, 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage, so while it won't be fast it wont slouch around either. Software wise it runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

The Kouziro FT103 will launch in Japan in late July for 34,800 Yen, which is about 310 GBP.

KitGuru says: Sorry, but we think we'll sit this round out.
