Samsung rumoured to unveil a Galaxy camera this week

The Galaxy brand has dominated Samsung's Android smartphones for years now but this could soon change with the possible announcement of the Galaxy S Camera later this week at IFA in Berlin.

No this isn't the real device, it's just a mock-up.

GSMArena has heard from a source which they claim has been reliable in the past has seen the device in person. It is described a Galaxy S III glued on the back of a standard point and shoot digital camera with a rumoured 16 MP sensor and 10x optical zoom. There will also be a Xenon flash and curved edges for better ergonomics.

The device will run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and will come in both Wi-Fi only and Wi-Fi and 3G models. Other specifications are unknown but one would expect them to be similar to the Galaxy S III.

Samsung's Galaxy S Camera will supposedly be unveiled at the company's Mobile Unpacked event in Berlin later this week.

KitGuru says: It won't be the first Android camera but it will be the most interesting.
