RIM ditch consumer market to refocus on business

Research In Motion, the creator of BlackBerry phones have announced that they are abandoning the consumer smartphone market to concentrate on business users. This return to their ‘roots' has been seen as a positive move for the company, as they will divert all resources to the area of their business which has been their strength.

Research In Motion have struggled to battle against Apple's iPhone and the raft of new smartphones from Android partners. The Canadian group have posted losses for the three months to 3rd March for £78 million. This time last year they made a profit of $934 million.

There are rumours that they may actually sell the consumer section of their business.

Kitguru says: A good move? We think so.
