QNAP releases the 2-bay TS-230 NAS

QNAP has just released the new stylish TS-230 NAS for your home media consumption needs. Available in baby blue, the TS-230 aims to be the perfect NAS for a living environment, working as your “daily central storage, back up, photo and video sharing” solution.

With the TS-230, your data is safeguarded from accidents thanks to its snapshot function. This NAS also supports multimedia apps and transcoding feature, making it ideal for “creating a smart and fun lifestyle”.

Equipped with a Realtek RTD1296 quad-core 1.4 GHz processor, paired with 2GB of DDR4 RAM, and 4GB of flash memory, the TS-230 can handle all NAS home applications. There's 1x Gigabit port, support for 2x 2.5/3.5-inch SATAIII HDD/SSD, AES-256 encryption, 1x USB 2.0 port, 2x USB 3.2 Gen 1 port, and SSD caching. To cool the unit, there's an 80mm HDB type Sintetico bearing fan to ensure stable system operation. Additionally, the “tool-less hard drive installation” makes it easier to mount the disk into the NAS.

Thanks to the QTS OS, the TS-230 supports “comprehensive file storage, sharing, backup, synchronization, and data protection”. It's possible to backup Windows or MacOS data from a PC to the TS-230, or use the HBS app to backup the NAS data to the cloud. You can also create multiple snapshot versions, or use Qfiling to easily organise files, Qsirch to search for files, and Qsync for file synchronisation across devices.

The TS-230 has support for Plex, allowing you to stream media and transcode 4K (H.264) content in real-time, and containers through Container Station. The AI-powered QuMagie app automatically organises photo albums, while the QuMagie Mobile app allows you to access your photos from your smartphone. You can install more apps through the QTS App Center to further expand your backup/sync, content management, communications, download, and entertainment options.

The QNAP TS-230 is available in the UK for £180. You can learn more about the TS-230 NAS here.
