40% of Xbox 360 activities are non gaming related

V.P. of Corporate Communication at Microsoft, Frank Shaw has said that 40% of all Xbox 360 related activities are now non gaming related. This statistic highlights that many users are enjoying other activities on Microsofts console, including using the built in DVD player to watch movies.

Facebook, messaging and Zune Store activity rate high on the percentage charts.

Microsoft are set to build on the diversity of the console platform by offering ‘plenty of Kinect centric fare' in coming months, including unannounced projects and a whole new series of products based around the Kinect controller system.

“The vision for Xbox is straightforward: All of the entertainment you want. With the people you care about. Made easy. That is why you've seen us invest in partnerships with ESPN, Netflix and Hulu. That is why we've baked social directly into the experience with Xbox LIVE – connecting gamers, friends and families across the globe. That is why you'll see Xbox marketed more as an entertainment brand this year.” – Frank Shaw Speaking to Kotaku.

KitGuru says: The console has been a success story for Microsoft which is helping to balance out the negativity surrounding the Windows Phone 7 market.
