Kit Dotcom may be extradited to America

Megaupload founder Kim Dotcom could be facing an extradition to America as the United States Federal Government have filed a request in a New Zealand Court to bring him and three of his colleagues to justice.

The four people are facing charges of hosting copyright material on MegaUpload servers. If you need to catch up on this story, check out this link on Kitguru.

Dotcom and the gang have been arrested some time ago and are currently facing charges in New Zealand. The American Federal Government want to intervene however and it was confirmed by a Crown Law spokeswoman that the papers have been filed in the North Shore District Court.

If he is extradited to America, he could face charges relating to racketeering, money laundering and copyright violations. A hearing is said to be scheduled in August.
