HTC to boost Nvidia Tegra shipments

HTC sell a large percentage of mobile devices, relying heavily on Qualcomm for the majority of their processors. HTC are changing their strategy and they are expected to purchase a larger percentage of Nvidia Tegra processors in the coming months.

Due to this Nvidia shipments will increase noticeably, with HTC wanting a focus on the quad core Tegra 3 processor. This will ensure that HTC will be able to product mobile devices with more powerful graphics capabilities, especially for gaming requirements.

HTC have had to change their strategy as they are facing a tough challenge from Apple and Samsung, who both have a strong range of powerful devices on the market. HTC Studio is being formed which will manage the product planning.

Tegra 3 is going to be in a strong position in 2012, as orders have been placed by LG for their Optimus X3 and Fujitsu for their Arrows tablet PC.

Kitguru says: A good move by HTC to strengthen their position in the market.
