Tablet shipments rise 77.6% on year

Digitimes Research have published a forecast showing that vendors are aiming to ship 14.97 million tablet computers, which is down 30.6% on quarter.

While this is a huge drop from the previous quarter, the figures indicate a growth of 77.6 percent on year.

The shipments will include 11 million iPad 2 and iPad 3 units, and 3.97 million non-Apple products, This is a decrease of 50.8% on quarter and includes 1.5 million Kindle Fire tablets and 300,000 Nook tablets.

Controlling the tablet computers will be a 13.3 percent Texas Instruments processor and 26.3% will be based on the Android operating system.

Foxconn, who build Apple tablets, dominate Taiwanese ODM with 13.51 million tablets shipped, claiming 83% of the total shipments from this region. Quanta take second place with 9.6%.
