The Galaxy S9 is expected to begin shipping in mid-March after MWC reveal next month

It has been quite the week for Samsung news. Last week during CES, Samsung confirmed that it plans to return to MWC this year, using the event as a platform to launch the Galaxy S9. This week, some key specs and features leaked out and today, we have news on the upcoming flagship's shipping date.

It is rare for a smartphone to go on sale within the same week it has been announced and Samsung won't be bucking that trend it seems. According to the ever reliable EVLeaks, Samsung will be launching the Galaxy S9 at MWC on the 26th of February. From there, pre-orders will open up on the 1st of March and the device will begin shipping out to customers on the 16th of March.

EVLeaks got this particular information from an ‘executive at a major case maker'. This isn't too surprising, as case makers tend to leak out various details about upcoming smartphones and are usually kept ‘in the know' by smartphone makers to ensure a healthy accessory ecosystem at launch.

So for the time being, it looks like we can expect just under a three week gap between the Galaxy S9's announcement and its shipping date.

KitGuru Says: There has been a lot of Galaxy S9 news over the last week. Are any of you thinking about picking one up?
