Apple plan to close stores to mourn loss of Steve Jobs

Apple will be holding a private memorial service for staff to mourn the loss of their co founder and iconic leader, Steve Jobs.

Apple CEO Tim Cook sent his staff an email explaining that Apple will be holding a service at 10am at the company HQ in Cupertino. The service is being webcast to all Apple employees worldwide.

At the same time, Apple will close their retail stores for a couple of hours so employees can watch the webcast online. According to the Associated Press, the source of this information can't be identified publicly.

Gone, but not forgotten. The man who had a dream and made billions from it: Steve Jobs

Cook's email to his staff said that the service will take place in the campus outdoor amphitheater. He said in the email that they need to “take time to remember the incredible things Steve achieved in his life and the many ways he made our world a better place.”

This event follows the memorial which took place on Sunday for friends and family, many of whom were celebrities and politicans. Bono and Joan Baez performed at this ceremony with billionaires Bill Gates and Larry Ellison in attendance.

Kitguru says: We aren't sure if all Apple stores globally will shut, but going on initial reports, it looks that way.
