iPad 2 is rated as the best tablet yet

Comparison organisation Consumer Reports has posted the results of their first round up of tablet PCs which is going to be welcomed by Apple lovers.

Consumer Repotrs is similar to the UK's Which magazine and their report shows that the iPad2 is the best tablet on the market. The original iPad takes second place next to the Motorola Xoom tablet. Many people are arguing that without Adobe Flash support that the Xoom should have claimed the top spot. It only managed to equal the original iPad in the verdict.

Other tablets in the battle were supplied from ViewSonic, Samsung, Dell, Archos and Motorola, and a total of 17 tests were used to give the final outcome.

Paul Reynolds, Electronics Editor and Consumer reports said “So far, Apple is leading the tablet market in both quality and price, which is unusual for a company whose products are usually premium priced. However, it's likely we'll see more competitive pricing in tablets as other models begin to hit the market.”

The iPads battery received a lot of praise, playing a looped video clip for over 12 hours. By comparison some of the other tablets struggled to hit 4 hours before dying.

Apple executives will be gleefully rubbing their hands today as they end the verdict with praise for the expensive solutions “With prices for the best tablets still too high for many budgets, consumers may be tempted by lower-priced competitors. Don't be,” it says, suggesting that sub-$300 tablets are “mediocre at best”.

KitGuru says: Apple are still No.1 and in this case they actually might be.
