LG’s X3 smartphone will pack in a Tegra 3 chipset

In the second LG smartphone related leak in as many days (the first being the successor to the Optimus 3D,) the upcoming X3 has been shown off with some specification and benchmark information.

The upcoming and presumably flagship LG smartphone will run on the mighty powerful Nvidia Tegra 3 chipset, just like the HTC Endeavour. Also, like the Endeavour the X3 will have a 4.7 inch 1280×720 display. Other specifications include a 8 MP camera with an instantaneous shutter feature. It will have 16 GB of storage plus an MicroSD expansion slot and a healthy 2000 mAh battery to power the big HD screen.

LG's X3 will be one of the first quad-core Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) smartphones and as such will be sure to pack a big performance punch. Yesterday a new version of the popular (but outlawed by many) Quadrant benchmark application was released on the Android Market and it was run on a X3. The LG smartphone scored a very strong score of 4412 while Phonearena's dual-core LG Optimus LTE managed a score of just 2514.

Kitguru says: Welcome to the year of quad-core smartphones, although they may not be overly beneficial in real life usage right now, they can always be used as a strong bragging point.
