Toshiba Android tablet hitting retail to challenge iPad 2

Toshiba are joining the hordes of manufacturers bringing a new tablet to market. None of them have yet even dented a hole in iPad sales, but perhaps Toshiba will have better luck.

Best Buy have already listed the Acer Iconia Tab A500, and they have also just placed a ‘coming soon' page for the Toshiba Tablet on their site.

Surprisingly there is no cool ‘name' yet for the product, which many people expected as Toshiba have been showing the product since January.

The tablet features a decent specification list, such as the 1GHZ Tegra 2 dual core processor, 10.1 inch screen @ 1280×800 pixels and Google Android 3.0 operating system installed.

It also features HDMI, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, USB ports and front and rear cameras.

The Toshiba tablet does have a few features which help it stand out, such as a full sized SD card slot and a user replaceable battery. There is a rubberised rear panel which has a ‘carbon fibre' appearance, making it easier to grip.

There is no price listed yet, but we have found it also on Amazon where they are more pictures, but still no price listed.

KitGuru says: Another tablet set to pale into the shadow of the iPad or one that will make an impact?
