Kindle DX – better screen and lower price

In the ongoing battle with Apple, competitors are having to cut prices and while Amazon have already lowered the price of the Kindle 2, now its time for the Kindle DX.

The Kindle DX was selling for $489 which seems massively overpriced in todays market especially as the iPad is selling for $499 in the US right now. Amazon have cut the price to $379 which means it fits between the lower end price bracket and the high end iPad based arena.

The Kindle DX has undergone some improvements, such as a new darker chassis design and a 50% higher contrast display which should help to enhance the reading experience.

Why would the Kindle DX be a good alternative to the iPad? Well while it doesn't offer the same multimedia capabilities the device is lighter and the ‘E-Ink' screen has been specifically designed for reading text. It also comes supplied with global 3G for no extra cost.

KitGuru says: Is $379 still too much or are you happy with the price reduction?
