iPad 2 sales continue to boom

Apple's iPad 2 is still selling as fast as it can be stocked according to recent reports. Digitimes have also reported that Apple will ship 5 million touch screen sensors for the iPad 2 in July alone.

These figures match the reports for June, as sources close to Apple have claimed that 5 million touch panels also shipped last month, indicating very strong sales.

Reports from Taipei and from Digitimes verify that Apple are looking to ramp up production to as much as 14 million units in Q3. The industry is waiting on the Apple Q2 reports which should be posted on July 19th. Analysts expect Apple to report sales between 7 million and 9 million. Surprisingly Apple did report that iPad sales in Q1 were slightly down – to 4.69 million from 7.33 million in the previous period.

... and still rolling off the shelves faster than they can make it

Apple have had to deal with supply issues after the earthquake in Japan earlier this year caused problems for some of their component suppliers. Tim Cook, Apple's COO said they had been dealing with the “mother of all backlogs.” in recent months.

The iPad 2 continues to sell out everywhere, and with the recent rumours that the iPad 3 might launch later this year we can't see their sales declining. As always, Apple don't comment on rumors and that is all they are right now, rumors.

Kitguru says: iPad 2 to be one of the best selling luxury products in 2011? Apple are certainly on track.
