Samsung release 1ms monitor with wider gamut range

When LCD screens were first released, they were often rated in excess of 20ms. With the release of the new Samsung P2770FH LCD which is rated at 1ms it shows how fast the world of technology moves.

Samsungs director of display marketing Young Bae issued a statement “a prime example of Samsung's leadership in display engineering, and creative professionals and computer gamers seeking the best possible viewing experience will immediately appreciate its benefits.”

Fast enough for you?: Samsungs new 1ms panel

Currently there are quite a few 2ms screens on the market, but this release from Samsung is the first 1ms screen to be announced … twice as fast as competiting panels. While we haven't seen it in the flesh, Samsung claim that this completely eliminates motion blur and ghosting effects.

In the press release Samsung also state that the panel “contributes to smoother video playback, making it ideal for reviewing family movies or compiling the latest vacation memories.”

The screen is a 27 inch 1080p model which features a 70,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. Samsung are also stating that the colour gamut range is higher than most monitors in this price sector. Connectivity is catered for with DVI-I, HDMI and weirdly enough, dying analog VGA support. Optical digital audio can be carried over to an external amplifier.

UK pricing has yet to be confirmed but it will launch in the US at around $400, which we would guess means UK prices of around £250 inc vat.
