AOC’s PDS Porsche-styled monitor wins the Computex design and innovation award

Back in April, AOC launched a new range of monitors designed in collaboration with the same team behind Porsche. We have already had the chance to review one of these monitors, praising the design but we weren't the only ones to be impressed. After appearing at Computex last week, AOC and Studio F. A. Porsche won the Computex 2017 design and innovation award.

This award was presented to the AOC PDS271, the 27-inch version of the PDS monitor. There is also a 24-inch version, which we reviewed. This monitor was selected for the 2017 Computex d&i award after evaluation from six international judges, who looked specifically at five categories: innovation and elaboration, functionality, aesthetics, responsibility and positioning.

So what are some of the key things that help the PDS stand out? For starters, unlike other monitors, the PDS series does not have any power or display connectors on the back side, allowing for a sleeker form factor and an overall thickness of just 5.2mm. A minimalistic approach was taken aesthetically and the metal stand is made to look like a work of art itself.

Beyond that, the display uses an external modular box for all inputs and a 3-sided frameless panel to complete the overall look.

KitGuru Says: From a design perspective, the AOC PDS series really does stand out from the crowd. Evidently, the good folks judging Computex this year agree. What do you guys think of AOC's Porsche-designed monitor?
