Noblechairs has made plenty of excellent themed gaming chairs over the years, from Marvel and Star Wars to The Elder Scrolls, Doom, Fallout, Resident Evil and others. Today, noblechairs is calling all Warhammer fans with the unveiling of its new noblechairs Hero Warhammer 40,000 Edition chair.

Beginning life as a tabletop game, the Warhammer universe has expanded to video games, novels and more. If you are a fan, then you may want to take a look at the new Warhammer 40,000 Edition chair, offering a sleek black and grey colour scheme, with a golden Imperium symbol emblazoned at the front.

Moving to the back of the chair, fans will notice more details, with the Sol System embroidered in gold as well. You'll find the slogan “There is Only War” stitched in silver gothic lettering too. I'm not a huge Warhammer fan myself but in my opinion, this is one of the nicest themed chairs the company has produced to date.

Like other noblechairs Hero Edition seats, you can expect all the comforts, including 4D armrests, a large backrest with adjustable lumbar support and recline/tilt functions.

The noblechairs Hero Warhammer 40,000 Edition is available starting today, priced at £439.98.

While Fatshark originally intended to bring Warhammer 40,000: Darktide to PC and Xbox consoles in September, the game has now been delayed again. After being pushed out of 2021 and into ‘early 2022', the game was later pushed again to September. Now, the developers are hoping to release the game in November instead.

Adding on to an already stacked October to November period for game releases, Fatshark now plans to bring Warhammer 40,000: Darktide to PC on the 30th of November. Xbox Series X/S owners will have to wait a little longer, with the console release due to come “shortly after”, but no exact timing has been announced.

It seems that Darktide has had a bit of a messy road up to launch and now, the game will be releasing in the middle of a packed schedule. However, with Darktide poised to be a day-one Xbox Game Pass title, the game should still find a pretty big audience.

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is a 4-player co-op action game set in the hive city of Tertium. Expect gameplay similar to Vermintide, but with new enemies, weapons, maps and characters.

KitGuru Says: The Vermintide games were always a lot of fun, so hopefully Darktide can continue that tradition when it eventually drops.

If you've been a fan of Warhammer 40,000 at any point in the past half decade or so, chances are you've come across Erasmus Brosdau's Lord Inquisitor passion project. It's always looked stunning, but seemed destined for video vapourware. As it turns out though, six years on from the film's beginning, it's finally been completed and now we have an eight minute prequel to chew over.

Getting a look into the Warhammer 40k universe in any manner other than the books, has always been a bit of a difficult task. The games do a pretty good job with story, though don't flesh it out much, but official movie properties like Ultramarines fail to live up to the franchise's epic scale and certainly don't come close to Lord Inquisitor in terms of aesthetics.

[yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZc6cr6G2E4′]

Then again, this short film does suffer for its voice acting, but when you look at the scale and depth captured by its visuals, it's easy enough to ignore that issue. The rattling thump as the Space Marines march through the streets, with the stomping dreadnoughts behind them on their epic parade, are an amazing backdrop for the story unfolding in the towers above.

Perhaps most surprising for those that followed the project in the past though, is that this turns out to be a prequel for the main show, set for release next year. That will feature much more of the Lord Inquisitor himself, a character which not only is the piece named after, but received special attention during the developmental process. He's arguably the most real looking character in the short film, though the others are far from lacking in detail.

Look forward to more work from Brosdau and his team of co-developers next year.

KitGuru Says: The fact that Games Workshop has never sold the rights for a feature length, CGI driven movie is criminal. A really dark, 40K movie about humanity's greatest warriors facing insurmountable odds, perhaps with an Alien-like horror twist thrown in, could be fantastic.

Following the big trailer reveal and announcement of Dawn of War III yesterday, more details have emerged from various quarters, including those who were lucky enough to get a look at an extended demo at Relic's HQ. They've revealed that DoW3 will have a single player campaign that has you playing as all races shown in the trailer: Eldar, Orks and Space Marines.

While this sounds similar to what Dawn of War II's Retribution expansion did, offering unique campaigns for each race, this is more like a team effort for a single campaign run. Players will take on the role of the respective armies as they transition from one level to another, giving different perspectives on the story, as all of them battle out to retrieve a mysterious and powerful weapon.

Each race has tiered units as before, as well as unique units, heroes and super soldiers that can really turn the tide of battle. The scale is also spread wider, allowing for Titan-sized combat between armies.

Dawn of War 1 scale battles are back, according to PC Gamer, but they will be augmented with the special heroes of the second game, allowing them to inspire their fellow troops and help turn the tide of battle. Relic also hopes that those epic brawls will be easier for newer players to read, making the game more accessible despite the scale.

That might mean sacrificing some of those sweet kill animations though.

dawnofwar32

Base building returns in the new game, with players forced to build power generators and to capture requisition points to generate resources, though whether individual buildings for upgrades and new units will need to be constructed is unknown.

Customisation will happen before a battle too, with each combatant selecting a trio of elite units to take with them into battle. Relic has said that it is testing a MOBA-like draft-pick system, but it remains to be seen if that will be implemented in the final game.

Super weapons will also feature, though not all have been detailed. Space Marines can call down an orbital laser attack. Here's hoping for a foot of Gork for the orks.

Finally the game will have a new cover system we're told. Units can capture it to gain an advantage against ranged units, but are weak to close combat attacks from assault troops.

KitGuru Says: All in all Dawn of War 3 sounds like an interesting blend of the original and its sequel, though I worry about the simplification to give it a more mainstream appeal. Do you think that will remove some of the strategy from the game?

Making a MOBA is a difficult task. Not only only is the landscape pretty crowded already, with the likes of DotA 2, League of Legends, Heroes of Newerth, Infinite Crisis, SMITE and the upcoming Heroes of the Storm, but it's a pretty defined genre. If you are going to make another one, you need to bring something pretty new and fresh to the table. Perhaps that something special is a unique IP, as that seems to be what Games Workshop is pinning its hopes on with newly founded studio Whitebox Interactive, which is making a brand new Warhammer 40k themed MOBA called Dark Nexus Arena.

nexus
Gameplay footage is currently “pre-alpha”

The game will throw the universe's law right out of the window – besides usage of its races and military units – and will pit the likes of Space Marine Terminators, against scouts, Ork stormboys and Tau Firewarriors in an arena battle to the death. Characters will have the standard four abilities, with one passive thrown in for good measure and to kick things off, there will be a single desolate looking map to fight over. Development is taking place within the unity engine.

[yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KvdpEwovrsg']

The short trailer doesn't show us much, besides some hints at what combat will look like and it is pretty typical of your average MOBA perspective and action, with creeps, unique map mobs to combat and an invitation to Early Access, though you can't sign up for anything but a mailing list just yet.

“Our vision is to adapt a never-before-seen piece of the Warhammer 40,000 universe to a videogame set against the brutal and bloody Dark Eldar Arenas,” reads the site's blurb. “To that end we are calling on you, the community, to help us. Your feedback will drive our work towards game balance, bug fixes and development of the best Warhammer 40,000 multiplayer battle arena experience.”

store

Even though the game won't be available until Q2 of this year though, you can pre-order a bunch of stuff from the store already. For just $250 you can get an early access key, some custom HUDs when the game launches, some forum avatars and portraits, and five limited edition in-game skins. Bargain.

A man and a woman have been arrested today by the Police Intellectual Property Crime Unit after they were suspected of earning £350,000 by selling hard drives filled with illegally downloaded music. The couple would sell drives containing around 200,000 songs and music videos, the scheme made them a pretty large chunk of money too.

Head of the PIPCU, DCI Daniel Medlycott, gave a statement, noting the importance of our creative industries: “Not only are we recognized worldwide as producing great films, TV and music but these industries are playing a large part in supporting our country financially, contributing a huge £71.4 billion to the UK economy and supporting 1.68 million jobs.”

Screen-Shot-2013-10-08-at-12.40.20-PM-600x487

The Police Intellectual Property Crime Unit has been up and running for around a year, having launched during September last year. Since then several IP crime arrests have been made but nobody has been successfully prosecuted. The two biggest cases so far involved a man being arrested for running a proxy server, allowing users to bypass court ordered blocks and access region restricted content. Additionally, a man was arrested and later released without charges for running a series of illegal sports streaming sites.

According to Medleycott, the PIPCU is “committed to tacking individuals that think they  can exploit others' copyrighted material for their own financial gain.”

KitGuru Says: £350,000 is a lot of money to make from selling off illegally downloaded music. I can't think of any reason as to why someone would bother buying a hard drive filled with pirated music when they could just do it themselves if they wanted it that badly, but that might just be me.

Legend has it that when Lennon passed his driving test, luxury car dealers appeared at his house to offer the Beatle a list of exotic cars, hoping they could promote their brand. In the end Lennon selected the £6,500 Ferrari which was finished in Azzuro blue, with a matching blue interior. Lennon only drove the car for 20,000 miles and then sold it in 1967.

If you mention the name ‘Hasselblad' to any camera aficionado they are likely to start drooling. Their medium format cameras may be very expensive, but the quality is in a class of its own. They recently announced their new Lunar camera – the ‘ultimate luxury mirrorless interchangeable lens camera'.

The Lunar was first showcased at the Photokina 2012. It is the companies first move into this market. The name ‘Lunar' is surely to remind people that Hassleblads have been used in space, such as the iconic 500EL which was handled by Neil Armstrong to take photographs of the moon's surface.

The Lunar features a 24.3 megapixel APS-C (23.5 x 25.6mm) CMOS sensor and will accept E mount lenses. It is also the first camera produced by the partnership with Sony. It is very closely related to the Sony NEX-7, a big seller over the last year.

It measures 142 mm x 82 mm x 70 mm and weighs 570g. They are shipping a lens with the camera which looks to be a Sony E 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS rebadged.

Both Sony and Haselblad camera have identical ISO ranges of 100-16,000 and a 25 point contrast detection autofocus system. Again, the OLED electronic viewfinder systems are the same 2.3 million dot units and there is a 3 inch screen which is tiltable and has 920k dots. Both cameras use the Sony TriNavi navigation system. The Lunar can also take a Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo, as well as an SD card.

Many people are annoyed that Hasselblad have ventured into this partnership with Sony, as the Lunar is so closely matched to the NEX 7, which is not surprisingly significantly cheaper. Hasselblad say that they have made some changes under the hood however, so both cameras are not the same.

There are five models in the Lunar range, using various materials such as brown Tuscan leather, black leather, carbon fiber and mahogany and olive oil on the grip. All of the Lunar cameras use Titanium buttons and the on and off and movie buttons have red jewels.

The cost? A cool $6,995.

Kitguru says: We didn't expect it to be cheap, but the Sony NEX7 is available for around $1,000.

When we first reported on April 25th, the bidding to have a cup of coffee with Tim Cook was sitting at $175,000. Today, the bidding is up to $600,000.

The charity event is already number 2 in the CharityBuzz list of all time top fundraising items. It will certainly end up one of the most expensive cups of coffee ever, Starbucks would be very jealous.

Many of the bids at this point are coming from entrepreneurs who clearly just want to meet the man to drum up some high profile publicity. Of course some of the bidders may be hoping they can pick Cook's brains about business ideas, but we can't imagine that is part of the charity deal.

Space Hulk is a PC and mobile title currently in development by Full Control ApS, that's based on the 1989 Warhammer 40,000 board game from Game Workshop with the same name. In a new gameplay demo, one of the developers discusses a lot of the game's features, including customisation.

The whole atmosphere of the game looks very dark and foreboding, which is a good sign as that's a key feature of the board game. There's flickering lights that make the alien Genestealers hard to see at some points, flames flicker against the walls before dying out and once the action starts kicking off, great flashes of storm bolter fire briefly illuminate the interior. You also get a close up look when something exciting happens, thanks to a cinematic camera.

[yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fSlgF96OtPY#!']

However one element that looks to be different from the base game is customisation, which see see players able to unlock adornments as they battle through the campaign, as well as letting players name their terminators (and accompanying meat shields) and potentially create their own chapters – or at the very least, select their favourite from a list.

“Everybody has a favourite chapter,” said the developer in the video, “and we want to add these, for real.”

Along with the chapters, there's still quite a bit to add, including some animations for actions like walking, which currently sees terminators glide across the floor, but it's all looking very promising.

KitGuru Says: I'm excited for this. I was too young to really appreciate the 1993 Space Hulk game, so this will be the first time I've been of age to take advantage of this properly. I've very much enjoyed the board game and this looks like a pretty faithful recreation.

It isn't often we see a collection as extensive as this one, but one well known collector is putting up a complete list of US Super Nintendo games for $25,000. He is accepting other offers however, if you only have $24,500 free maybe?

The guy is selling every game, which includes the box and 85 percent of them also include the manual. The seller, called byuu is actually the creator of the popular BSNES emulator. He bought all the games to ensure his ROM's all worked perfectly. He spent three years of his life collecting the games, and is looking to get some of his money back. That is dedication!

We have seen some of these games selling for $300 each, without the boxes. There are 721 games up for grabs. According to my sources, some of the unlicensed a promotional games, such as Nintendo Powerfest 1994 are not included. As this has sold in the past for almost $12,000 alone, it wouldn't be expected.

He says he spent 2,000 hours buying, scanning and dumping the games, and another 60 hours hand cleaning each of the cartridges.

Next on his list, is to collect all the European and Japanese SNES games to do the same thing.

He has had 40 offers already. You can check it out here.

Kitguru says: this is a very dedicated person, and while I think it is bonkers, I can admire him for all the time he has put into this !

Digg, the once rising star of the social news industry has been sold for only $500,000. Betaworks, a New York based technology development company bought the website however according to breaking news on the Wall Street Journal, it will not be retaining any of the staff.

Digg was founded in 2004 and was at the forefront of the websites who allowed people to add and interact with content from other people. It was valued once at $160 million, but Facebook and Twitter hit it hard and the fortunes declined quickly over the years.

The Wall Street Journal added that Digg had actually received higher offers, but sold to Betaworks because they were ‘the best plan for reviving the brand'. John Borthwick, the founder of Betaworks will take over as the new Digg CEO.

Kevin Rose: Co founder of Digg

Matt Williams, Digg's current chief executive said “Over the last few months, we've considered many options of where Digg could go and frankly many of them could not live up to the reason Digg was invented in the first place – to discover the best stuff on the web. We wanted to find a way to take Digg back to its startup roots.”

He continued “Coming soon, Betaworks will unveil a new cloud-based version of Digg to complement the current News.me iPhone and iPad apps. Stay tuned.”

Kitguru says: Such a shame to see this brand taken over, but perhaps a good sign for the future.

Mitsubishi have released the 2012 i-MiEV at under $30,000 – the least expensive all electric car targeting the American market.

The car is a five door model with a 126 miles per gallon equivalent rating from the federal government in city driving. This is higher than the Nissan Leaf, at 106 mpg.

The rear wheel drive i-MiEV has been warmly reviewed by critics who say it has speed sensitive steering that works really well. The brakes are also said to be strong with a ‘realistic' feel. It takes between seven and 22 hours to fully recharge, depending on the charger used.

The entry level $29,975 model has a 66 horsepower electric motor, with a 16 kilowatt lithium ion storage battery and a one speed direct drive transmission.

The car is eligible for a one time federal tax income credit of $7,500. Buyers in America have to wait until they file their tax documents for the calendar year before claiming the credit. The car also has air conditioner, stability control, six air bags and traction control. It also has keyless entry and power windows with a 360 watt sound system on board.

Kitguru says: Sales should be good for this relatively inexpensive electric car.

Symantec told a hacker group that they were willing to pay $50,000, to keep the source code for some of their flagship products off the internet. They confirmed this with CNET last night.

CNET wrote “An e-mail exchange revealing the extortion attempt posted to Pastebin (see below) today shows a purported Symantec employee named Sam Thomas negotiating payment with an individual named “Yamatough” to prevent the release of PCAnywhere and Norton Antivirus code. Yamatough is the Twitter identity of an individual or group that had previously threatened to release the source code for Norton Antivirus.

“We will pay you $50,000.00 USD total,” Thomas said in an e-mail dated Thursday. “However, we need assurances that you are not going to release the code after payment. We will pay you $2,500 a month for the first three months. Payments start next week. After the first three months you have to convince us you have destroyed the code before we pay the balance. We are trusting you to keep your end of the bargain.”

Symantec confirmed the extortion attempt saying “In January an individual claiming to be part of the ‘Anonymous' group attempted to extort a payment from Symantec in exchange for not publicly posting stolen Symantec source code they claimed to have in their possession. Symantec conducted an internal investigation into this incident and also contacted law enforcement given the attempted extortion and apparent theft of intellectual property. The communications with the person(s) attempting to extort the payment from Symantec were part of the law enforcement investigation. Given that the investigation is still ongoing, we are not going to disclose the law enforcement agencies involved and have no additional information to provide.”

Apparently talks broke down when the subject of proof of code and transferring payment were brought up. AnonymousIRC tweeted last night that it would soon release the data. “#Symantec software source codes to be released soon. stay tuned folks!!! #Anonymous #AntiSec #CockCrashed #NortonAV.”

You can read more about the email exchanges over at CNET.

Kitguru says: Does it make you lose faith in a security company who are being held to ransom by hackers? After all if they can't look after their own source code can they be trusted to look after your computer?

While Linkedin CEO Jeff Weiner feels that people don't have time in their schedule for Google+, it appears that initial reports are very positive for Google's latest social networking platform.

Reports show that the growth of Google+ is very strong, with the adoption rate almost reaching 20 million users within a space of three weeks, after launch.

Paul Allen from Ancestry.com said yesterday that his calculations show that the site had reached 18 million users and was continuing to grow at a rate of 750,000 people each day.

Allen said his methodology for tracking isn't based on internal data. “I don't have access to log files or to a massive consumer panel. I'm simply measuring how many Google+ users there are of various randomly selected surnames every day. Last week I increased the sample of surnames that I query from 100 to 1,000.

“Over a four-day period, the 100-surname sample showed a Google+ growth rate of 28.4%. The 1,000 surname sample showed a growth rate of 28.5%. [That's] statistically insignificant. So I'm not sure whether to keep running 1,000 surname queries per day or just stick with 100. Yesterday, the number of users with the 1,000 surnames jumped from 23,922 (all counted by hand) to 24,990, for an increase of 4.47%. I tried to get the count a full day after the original count, but there is no way to make sure that my data entry team can time it exactly right. The counts could be off by several hours, cutting into the accuracy.”

Google+ was released for the iPhone this week and is already the top free app on the Apple App Store.

Allen said “”Google hasn't started marketing Google+ through any of its other channels yet. More than a billion people worldwide use Google products, including its top rated search engine, YouTube, and Blogger. Chairman Eric Schmidt says the vision is to integrate Circles and sharing with all the other Google properties. When that happens, you will likely see millions of people joining Google+ every day for some period of time.”

Google's CEO Larry Page has said the growth is great, especially after the record profits and revenue figures which were published last week.

In other news, Google have killed Google Labs, a trial area in which beta products were released so people could try them out and offer feedback before the company decided to move forward. The removal of this is to “prioritize product efforts.”

Kitguru says: Google+ looking to be a success story already, even after only 3 weeks in the wild.

3DTV sales still haven't set the world on fire, and I think I know why. No one wants to be dealing with glasses. I certainly don't want to be sitting on my sofa in the evenings with an annoying pair of glasses to watch the football.

Well fear not, for a four man team of ex Philips engineers have been working with Japanese group Nissho to release their first ‘glasses free' 3DTV.

The engineers have formed a company called Dimenco so they could progress their vision of how 3DTV should really work. The commercial product won't be available until 2013, but the early indications are good, because it is possible. They have created a 52 inch tv with 1080p resolution, but without the need for glasses thanks to a complex lens setup stuck to the front of the display which allows each eye to see different frames of the video signal.

The set they have developed has a 2000:1 contrast ratio with 60hz refresh rate and they are touting the technology as ‘2D + depth'. At £13,000 a panel its not going to make its way into the mainstream, but we are sure that some big organizations will buy a screen for demonstration purposes.

In a few years we would guess that many of the larger screen development companies will have reasonably priced 3D panels available without the need for silly glasses. Thats what we are waiting for.

Kitguru says: 3DTV without glasses. how many of you would move to 3D if this was mainstream?

If a simple iPhone 4 isn't enough for that special lady in your life, then perhaps the new iPhone from Stuart Hughes will hit the spot. He is only making two of these phones so you can get a matching pair if you want – the asking price? only £5,000,000 each. To our american readers, that is around $8 million per phone.

The big question is have they managed to sort out the antenna issues? Imagine having to hide this inside a luminous pink case.

Leaving this in a shop is not an option!

The world’s most expensive phone with a total construction cost of £5 million. The bezel is handmade from rose with approx 500 individual flawless diamonds which total over 100ct.The rear section is formed using rose gold with the added touch of its rose gold Apple logo and 53 diamonds. The main navigation is made from platinum which holds a single cut 7.4ct pink diamond.

Also included (not shown in picture) is a rare 8ct single cut Flawless diamond which can replace the pink one. The chest which houses this unique handset is made from a single block of Granite , in Imperial Pink with the inner lined with Nubuck top grain leather , which weight is a massive 7kg.The handset is 32gb and limited edition of only 2 to be ever made.

KitGuru says: We think this is a work of art, although quite clearly the most bonkers idea in a long time.
