A couple of weeks ago, a Windows 11 update began causing issues for MSI motherboard users, resulting in a BSOD ‘unsupported processor' error. After some investigation, the root cause of the issue has been found and a new BIOS update should fix things right up.

MSI and Intel have been working together to find a solution to this issue on MSI's Intel 700 and 600 series motherboards. It would seem that the unsupported processor error was primarily caused by a firmware setting of the Intel Hybrid Architecture and it mainly affected 13th Gen Core i9 processors running a couple of specific Windows 11 builds and one version of Windows 10.

MSI has begun rolling out BIOS updates for its motherboards to address the problem. In the list below, you can find the list of boards with an available link to the updated BIOS:

Gigabyte has recently released a new BIOS update for their motherboards that introduces support for “next generation processors” from Intel. The timing of this release aligns with the upcoming launch of Intel's 14th Gen Core series, expected to debut as early as September.

The release of this BIOS update (via Reddit) was prompted by recent reports of a severe firmware vulnerability in Gigabyte motherboards, which could potentially allow unauthorized software downloads. In response, Gigabyte swiftly implemented enhanced security measures to address the issue. The company has already rolled out updates for Intel 600/700 motherboards and some AMD 400/500 series boards, with plans to include Intel 400/500 and AMD 600 series motherboards as well.

Surprisingly, the new BIOS update for Intel 600/700-series motherboards also introduces support for Intel's next-generation CPUs. While the firmware changelog does not mention the specific CPU series, it aligns perfectly with recent rumours that Intel will launch new desktop processors later this year, based on an improved version of the Raptor Lake architecture.

The new series of Raptor Lake chips are expected to bring higher clock speeds. Motherboard manufacturers should release updated 700-series motherboards alongside the new processors, but the update suggests older motherboards (600 and 700 series) can handle the new processors too.

So, you’ve picked up a load of new hardware in the boxing day sales and now you are looking for a new case to house it all? New enthusiast PC case manufacturer Montech could be the answer since the company has just launched a line of competitively priced gaming cases.

The Taiwan based company has announced the launch of its Fighter 400 and Fighter 600 series of budget-friendly gaming PC cases, both the 400 and 600 are mid-tower ATX form factor and come with tempered glass side panels that provide a great view of the internal hardware.

The fighter 400 comes equipped with a pre-installed 120mm blue LED fan in the rear while the Fighter 600 offers improved out of the box cooling with three front-mounted and one rear-mounted 120mm Rainbow LED fans.

Montech’s Fighter range of ATX cases are aimed at the budget-conscious PC builders out there but without sacrificing all the bells and whistles of higher-priced offerings. Both Fighter cases include tempered glass windows, space for liquid cooling radiators, power supply shrouds and healthy storage device mounting options.

The Montech Fighter series also includes top and bottom dust filtration to keep the system looking clean, industry-standard front USB 3.0 and 2.0 ports are present along with generous cable management features. The Fighter 600 offers support for 120mm and 240mm radiator mounting, while the Fighter 400 can house 120mm, 240mm, 280mm and even 360mm radiators.

The Monthech Fighter PC cases are set to be available in the first half of January 2020 with the Fighter 400 expected to be priced at $48.99 USD on release and the Fighter 600, with Rainbow fans will be around $53.99.

Today we are going to take a look at the Buffalo AirStation N600 wireless router which is positioned as an affordable dual-band wireless router.  This means it operates on both 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz frequencies … ideal for those who want to connect multiple devices which consume a lot of bandwidth without running into issues.

Buffalo are well known for producing a wide range of networking equipment and they offer more affordable alternatives to competitors such as Synology.  We have reviewed a number of Buffalo products in the past and have been pretty impressed with what they have to offer.

The AirStation N600 operates on the ‘N' wireless band and is able to funnel 300 Mbps through both 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz frequencies respectively.  This should make it well suited to those who are heavy online gamers or those who stream a lot of bandwidth-heavy content over the wireless network as the traffic can be split between the bands, providing you have compatible devices.
