Intel is preparing to launch its Tiger Lake-H45 processors very soon, in fact, the launch appears to be imminent. This week, retail listings for Tiger Lake-H45 powered laptops began appearing at retail, including details on clock speeds.

Leaker @momomo_us found listings of Lenovo Legion 5 and Legion 7 laptops featuring the upcoming Intel Tiger Lake-H45 processors. Furthermore, VideoCardz has also found another listing of the same Lenovo Legion 7 laptop, which leads us to believe that a big launch is just around the corner.

The Lenovo Legion 5 15.6-inch laptop has the Intel Core i5-11400H, featuring 6-cores, 12-threads, a base clock of 2.7GHz, and a boost clock of 4.5GHz. The Legion 5 with a 17.3-inch screen will come with an Intel Core i7-11800H processor with 8x cores, 16x threads, and a base clock of 2.4GHz which boosts up to 4.6GHz.

Finally, the Legion 7 listings suggests this laptop will come with an Intel Core i9-11980HK processor, an 8-core and 16-thread processor with a base clock of 2.6GHz and a boost clock of 5.0GHz. Laptops equipped with Intel Tiger Lake-H45 processors are expected to release within the next few months.

KitGuru says: Are you planning on acquiring a laptop in the coming months? Will you choose one powered by AMD Ryzen 5000H or wait for the release of the Intel 11th Gen Core “Tiger Lake-H45″ processors?

Intel has been gearing up for the release of its 8-core Coffee Lake-S processor for quite some time, with the accompanying Z390 chipset leaked last month. A new listing has since revealed that Intel will be debuting two variants, with one sporting a 2.6GHz base clock.

Rumours surrounding Intel’s continuation of its Coffee Lake line despite the debut of its 10nm Cannon lake processors have been circulating for the best part of half a year, with Intel’s technical documents giving a sneak peek at what’s to come. None of these leaks have yielded much detail on what to expect from the new chips, until now.

SiSoft Sandra released new benchmarks earlier this week that finally shed new light on the desktop 8-core processor, which has showcased backwards compatibility with current LGA 1151 sockets thanks to the tests conducted on the Kaby Lake client system platform.

Boost frequencies remain a mystery, however the test chip was running at 2.6GHz with 16MB of L3 cache (2MB per core) and a TDP of 95W. There’s a possibility that final specifications could change by the time the 8-core/16-thread finally hits shelves, as there is currently no release window.

The 2.6GHz base clock might seem underwhelming at first, but with a benchmark score of 237.032 GOPS, it already fares better than an i7-8700K running at 4.5 GHz. This could stretch even further once the SKU has been finalised and boost clocks are revealed.

Another processor has been spotted by ComputerBase, which makes reference to a second 8-core/16-thread SKU at a much lower 80W TDP. This hints at a new entry to its power-efficient Xeon line-up sporting the same high core count as its presumed mainstream counterpart.

Intel has yet to address any of these rumours and leaks, meaning that readers should take this information with a pinch of salt. Given the impending nature of Intel’s 10nm Cannon Lake processors, it’s only a matter of time before Coffee Lake-S appears in an official capacity.

KitGuru Says: I can’t imagine Intel doing too much better on single thread performance with its incoming processors, but that clearly isn’t the market given its high core count. For those stuck generations behind, perhaps a Coffee Lake refresh is what’s needed, but I’ll keep looking ahead towards next year’s Cannon Lake CPUs in the meantime.

MediaTek is having a dream run these days, from virtually being an unknown company at the beginning of 2010, it has risen to fame, courtesy of its dual core and quad-core budget System on Chip's (S0C): the  MT6577 and MT6589. The company has already released a detailed roadmap for its upcoming products  for Q3-2013 and 2014 which includes an LTE chip possibly for International markets like USA and Europe.

Now reports coming straight from Taiwan suggest that Samsung is planning to use MediaTek's upcoming ‘True' Octacore SoC, MT6592 in their smartphones!

Samsung hasn't revealed any info regarding which series of smartphones the processor will find its ways into, but its likely that the new chips will be used in entry level handsets and tablets, possibly aimed at developing markets. This news comes at a time when Samsung's market-share in countries like India and China is plummeting in the entry level  and mid range segment due to virtual flooding of markets with budget devices based on MediaTek's SoC. By partnering with the fabless semiconductor company, Samsung is cleverly trying to tackle the competition in Asia. Its own home brewed 8-Core Exynos for the high end and the budget Mediatek 8-core for the entry level segment diversifies its product portfolio.

The development although good for Mediatek, will come as a setback for small local brands both in China and India who struggle to keep up with supply due to the  enormous demand of Mediatek chips. With a large company like Samsung in the mix it is bound to get much harder. A price hike also cannot be ruled out.

Despite all this, the Taiwanese company is positive regarding its future prospects. Sony has already released its Xperia C handset based on the Mediatek platform, while  HTC is gearing up to launch its HTC 608T based on the same System on Chip (SoC) solution. A wider International launch is imminent.

Kitguru says: Its nice to see small companies compete with big guns like Qualcomm, Nvidia and Samsung. Healthy competition is always good for the consumers.
