Thermaltake has introduced a new Smart BM3 Bronze series, a line of compact PSUs with 550W, 650W, 750W, and 850W models. The Smart BM3 Bronze is ATX 3.0 compliant, supports PCIe Gen 5.0 12+4-pin, and has an abundance of 8-pin connections to provide plenty of options. Thermaltake also claims ‘the highest stability', thanks to Japanese primary electrolytic capacitors and 80 Plus Bronze efficiency.

The Smart BM3 Bronze series is compliant with Intel's ATX 3.0 standard, meaning it can withstand 200% power excursion and achieve 60% efficiency at 2% load. Furthermore, these new PSUs can power RTX 40 series GPUs with a native PCIe Gen 5.0 connection via the 12VHPWR connector, while your traditional 8-pin PCIe connectors are also in place for other graphics cards. Furthermore, the Smart BM3 Bronze has a Smart Zero Fan design to reduce unwanted noise, as the built-in 120 mm fan only spins when the load reaches 20%, though there is a physical switch to toggle this mode on and off.

Thermaltake's new Smart BM3 Bronze PSUs are equipped with high-quality Japanese 105°C/221°F main electrolytic capacitors, something Thermaltake claims results in improved longevity and stability. The Smart BM3 Bronze can offer a consistent supply to PC components thanks to its DC-to-DC architecture and high-amperage single +12V rail design. Furthermore, this power supply is 80 Plus Bronze-certified and Intel C6/C7 state-ready. In addition, the Smart BM3 Bronze series has comprehensive industry-grade protection (OCP, OVP, UVP, OPP, SCP, and OTP) to ensure the safety of your system.

The Smart BM3 Bronze – TT Premium Edition PSUs will be available in August 2023 and come with a five-year warranty. The 550W model will go for $64.99/€74.90 MSRP, the 650W model for $69.99/€84.90, the 750W model for $79.99/€94.90, and the 850W model for $89.99/€109.90.

Modular power supplies have been following the same design approach for a while. However, it appears that Corsair has decided to stir things up a bit by introducing a PSU that, instead of having the cable connectors facing the front of the case, turns them to face towards the right-sided panel to reduce cable clutter.

Corsair hasn't officially announced the power supply, but @momomo_us is already sharing a few details about it. Named RMx Shift, these new power supplies use what Corsair calls “Innovative Easy-Access Connection Position”. Instead of facing the power connectors to the front of the chassis, Corsair decided to move them facing the right-side panel for easier cable management. Although this looks like a good idea, one has to note your case will likely need to be wider than the average to offer enough space on the back of the motherboard tray to accommodate the extra cabling.

Set to be available with 850W, 1000W and 1200W models, the RMx Shift power supplies will feature 140mm fluid dynamic bearing fans for cooling and type 5 Gen 1 micro-fit PSU cables. Ideally, these cables will also be right-angled, allowing users to easily plug them in. These PSUs will be 80 Plus Gold-certified, just like the other RM and RMx PSUs.

Depending on the wattage, the number of connectors changes. The 1200W model has a 24-pin ATX, eight 6+2-pin CPU/PCIe, and half a dozen SATA power interfaces. The 1000W model comes with one less PCIe 6+2-pin power connector, and the smaller 850W only has five SATA and five CPU/PCIe power interfaces.

bequiet! is launching three new Dark Power 12 power supplies. Available with 750W, 850W, and 1000W, the Dark Power 12 PSUs feature an 80 PLUS Titanium certification, a 135mm cooling fan, modular design, and a switch to change between multi-rail and single-rail.

Unlike the Dark Power 12 Pro models, the Dark Power 12 PSUs don't use digital regulation. Instead, they employ an “advanced Active Rectifier + Full Bridge LLC + SR + DC-DC topology” and a wire-free interior on the DC side to achieve a high-efficiency rating. Featuring 4x 12V rails and premium components such as Japanese 105°C capacitors, these power supplies are extremely reliable and stable.

To cool the unit, bequiet! added a frameless 135mm Silent Wings fan under a full mesh grill, pulling the air through a funnel-shaped air intake to maximise airflow and air pressure.

Similar to Dark Power 11 and Dark Power Pro 12 series, these power supplies will come with the Overclocking Key switch, allowing users to change between multi-rail mode and single-rail mode. The Dark Power 12 series exterior is also similar to that of its predecessors, featuring an all-black steel casing and modular black sleeved cables,

The bequiet! Dark Power 12 power supplies will be available starting March 9th, priced at $199.90/£205.99/€214.90 (750 W), $239.90/£239.99/€249.90 (850 W), and $279.90/£269.99/€279.90 (1000 W). All Dark Power 12 PSUs come with a 10-year warranty.

MSI has announced its first series of power supplies. Named ‘MPG GF', these new power supplies will be available in three models: the A650GF, the A750GF, and the A850GF. Rated with 80Plus Gold efficiency and featuring a modular design, the MPG GF power supplies are aimed at gamers and “support the latest Nvidia graphics cards”.

The MSI MPG GF PSUs are built using 100% all Japanese 105° C capacitors to ensure their reliability and operating stability. The 80Plus Gold efficiency rating means that at 20% load, the power efficiency should be over 90%, while at 50% load it should be hovering around 92%, and at full load should be about 89%.

Featuring Active PFC and “LLC Half Bridge Topology with DC-DC module” designs, these power supplies have an extensive set of protection features, including OVP, OCP, OPP, OTP, SCP, and UVP. Thanks to its modular design, the MPG GF power supplies support either 3x VGA 8-pin ports and 2x CPU 8-pin ports or 4x VGA 8-pin ports and a single CPU 8-pin port.

The fully modular design ensures that your system isn't filled with useless cables, resulting in a cleaner build that you can show to your friends. Additionally, the modular cables included are flat, making it easier for system builders to route and organise them throughout the system. With MSI's latest addition to its product portfolio alongside current PC cases, coolers, motherboards, and graphics cards, users can now build “a more mature and established MSI gaming ecosystem”.

Pricing and availability of the new MSI power supplies have not been shared yet, but all of them will be backed by a 10-year warranty. You can learn more about the A650GF HERE, the A750GF HERE, and the A850GF HERE.

Antec has been gearing up to launch a new range of power supplies in 2018. We had the chance to see some of what was coming up at Computex earlier this month, and now this week, Antec is launching its new HCG Extreme series of high-performance power supplies.

The High Current Gamer Extreme series currently features two units, one 850W model that will sell for 179 Euros and a 1000W model that will go for 208 Euros. Both HCG units are fully modular, which greatly simplifies cable management and allows unnecessary cables to be removed from the PC entirely. They are also 80Plus Gold rated and utilise Japanese capacitors for clean DC-DC performance.

For cooling, these PSUs include a 135mm high airflow fan with a fluid dynamic bearing for durability and longevity. Like many other high-end PSUs, there is a ‘Zero RPM' mode that will switch the fan off entirely until the PC hits a certain load threshold.

The finish on these power supplies might end up being the most divisive thing. These units are cased in an aluminium shell with a rose gold finish, which people will either love or hate.

KitGuru Says: Antec has many power supplies available at this point, so even if the rose gold finish isn't to your tastes, they'll have something that will be. Are many of you planning on building a new system? Will you be considering an Antec power supply for it?

FSP, a leading manufacturer of power supply units for personal computers, has announced its new Hydro G series PSUs that combine high efficiency, improved cooling, modular design, silent operation, mainstream price and even changeable logotype colours. The FSP Hydro G power supply units are compliant with Ecos Consulting’s 80 Plus Gold certificate.

The FSP Hydro G PSU features advanced internal architecture designed to maximize cooling efficiency of the unit. The mainboard and the daughterboard of the PSU are connected to the power supply’s chassis, effectively transforming the latter into a heatsink. Components inside the PSU are also placed in a way to maximize airflow within the unit. The Hydro G PSU comes with a 135mm FDB (fluid dynamic bearing) fan that automatically starts when the power supply’s load exceeds 30 per cent, and automatically stops when the load drops to 20 per cent.

fsp_hydro_g_psu_mod

The family of FSP’s Hydro G power supply units includes models with 650W, 750W and 850W total power output. Like other advanced PSUs, the Hydro G products are fully modular. According to the manufacturer, the cable plug layout has been completely redesigned for neater installations.

In a bid to maximize appeal of the Hydro G series to modders, the new PSUs come with changeable blue, green and red logo stickers. Depending on a user’s preferences, he or she can apply the demanding colour to match design of their PC hardware.

fsp_hydro_g_psu_stickers

In order to get the “80 Plus Gold” certificate from Ecos, a PSU has to be 88 per cent – 92 per cent efficient under a 20 per cent, 50 per cent and 100 per cent load.

fsp_hydro_g_psu_specifications

The Hydro G PSU will be available in Q3 2015 for suggested retail price of £89 (for 650W), £99 (for 750W) and £109 (for 850W).
