Windows 11 is already out, but Microsoft hasn't abandoned its predecessor yet. For the foreseeable future, Windows 10 will still be supported, but feature updates will be slowing down a bit, moving over to an annual release model.

Since Windows 10 launched, Microsoft has been updating the operating system with new features each semester. However, like Windows 11, its predecessor will now start to be updated annually. This schedule change postponed the feature update planned for the first half of 2022 to the second half of next year.

Alongside this announcement, Microsoft also said that the November 2021 update for Windows 10 is now available for download. Windows 10 Home and Pro editions will receive 18 months of servicing and support, while Enterprise and Education editions will receive 30 months. Moreover, the company added it will support at least one Windows 10 version until October 14th, 2025.

Now that Windows 10 feature update cadence is annual, we expect the operating system's stability will increase. Besides giving more time to squash bugs and test features, yearly updates will also be a blessing for companies and businesses, as they won't have to update their systems as often.
