Last year, Bandai Namco surprised us all with the announcement of Sand Land, a new game based on Akira Toriyama's short, 1-volume manga. Fans were immediately drawn in at the sight of Toriyama's distinctive character designs, and now, we can try the game out for ourselves thanks to a free demo.

A demo for Sand Land is now available on PC, Xbox and PlayStation, allowing players to explore a portion of the map with characters Rao, Beelzebub and Thief, each of which have their own unique skills.

The full gsame will release on April 26th, promising an action-packed adventure in the desert. As an action RPG, players will also have lots of customisation options, including upgradeable weapons and an upgradeable vehicle.

The game's release comes at a sad time, as Akira Toriyama unfortunately passed away earlier this month. Toriyama was best known for the Dragon Ball manga, but he was also heavily involved with games like Dragon Quest and Chrono Trigger, alongside many other projects.

Sand Land originally released as a manga in the early 2000s. The 14 chapter-long series was published in the weekly Shonen Jump magazine in Japan, before being collected into a single book. A film adaptation of the series released last year and soon, a new anime series based on the manga will debut.

KitGuru Says: I've always been a huge Dragon Ball fan, having discovered the series in my childhood. Toriyama's art style eventually drew me towards games like Dragon Quest. I'm looking forward to checking this game out, although I may hold off on the demo and wait for the full release next month. Are any of you planning on picking up Sand Land when it drops?

While the series has been in various states of activity over the course of its life, Katamari has delighted many fans over the years with its unique gameplay and quirky story. Now, the team are celebrating the franchise’s 20th anniversary – alongside the promise of more Katamari in the future.

Detailed by the publication ‘Denfaminicogamer’, as part of the 20th anniversary celebrations for the Katamari series, publisher Bandai Namco have gone live with a franchise sale across digital platforms, alongside the release of the first game’s soundtrack to music streaming platforms.

That’s not all however, as a new official Twitter page for the franchise has been created, with them stating (as translated by Google) “We have opened a comprehensive official account for the [Katamari] series. In the future, we will not only provide game information, but will also deliver a lot of information about goods.”

The Katamari franchise is a wholly unique series whose new releases never fail to entertain and so it is exciting to see it continue to truck along after two decades.

Hopefully a brand new and original Katamari entry is announced sooner rather than later.

Back in October last year, Bandai Namco announced that they would be updating the highly-popular Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 in 2024 with a new current-gen release for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. With the game well over 7 years old at this point, the publisher has now given an official release date for Xenoverse 2’s upcoming patch.

Making the announcement on their website, the team at Bandai Namco said “The highly anticipated PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of the hit game Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 are coming on May 24, 2024!” adding that “These upgraded versions of the game are optimized for current generation systems and enable you to enjoy all the Xenoverse 2 fun with lots of improved graphics and partially reduced load times!”

While no direct specifics were shared regarding the update, the team did release a comparison video, allowing you to see the differences for yourself. Thanks to the game’s art style, Xenoverse 2 still looks pretty decent on last-gen consoles despite being over 7 years old. That said, it is exciting to see that fans will be getting a native next-gen version of the game – especially for free.

Beyond the current-gen patch, Bandai Namco reaffirmed that Xenoverse 2 will be getting new content as well, the details of which can be found HERE.

With Dragon Ball FighterZ now available natively on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, it was only a matter of time before the previously-announced patch for Xenoverse 2 would go live. While players will still have to wait a couple months, having a concrete release date is highly welcome.

The Dragon Ball franchise has been producing video games for decades, creating many well-known and loved series. One of the franchise’s breakout hits was 2018’s Dragon Ball FighterZ. Following years of post-launch support, the game has finally gotten a native current-gen upgrade – featuring rollback netcode.

Taking to Twitter, the official Dragon Ball Games page announced FighterZ’ current-gen launch, saying “DRAGON BALL FighterZ releases 29th February (midnight local time) on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S with rollback netcode!”

For the uninitiated, rollback netcode is “a technique that reduces the input lag and visual stuttering that often plague online matches in fighting games. Unlike delay-based netcode, which waits for the synchronization of inputs between players, rollback netcode predicts the inputs and executes them immediately, then corrects any discrepancies later. This creates a smoother and more responsive gameplay that feels closer to offline play.”

While rollback netcode is only coming to the current-gen consoles, PC players will also benefit from this update – meaning PS4/Xbox One and Switch are left out of the equation.

As with many games this generation, the PS5/Series X|S upgrade will be free to all those who already own the game. 5+ years on from its initial release and Dragon Ball FighterZ is getting a whole new lease on life.

Elden Ring quickly became by far FromSoftware’s biggest success following its release in February 2022 – where the game managed to sell over 12 million copies within its first few weeks on the market. With the official announcement of its long-anticipated Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, the team have revealed that Elden Ring has now shipped over 23 million copies.

Making the announcement via a press release, the team at publisher Bandai Namco said:

“Combining the development capabilities of FromSoftware and the marketing power of Bandai Namco Entertainment's overseas network, this title has been played by fans around the world since its release on February 25, 2022, and has shipped more than 23 million units worldwide.”

Most recent sales figures prior put the game at having sold 20 million copies – announced back in February of last year.

So while the sales for Elden Ring have certainly slowed down, 23 million copies is still a massive amount – plus with the long-awaited DLC finally set to drop in June, the game will likely hit the 25 million figure sooner rather than later.

After a very lengthy marketing period, the much anticipated Tekken 8 finally released late last month. It seems as though the game has found a strong audience straight from the get-go, with the fighting game having already sold over 2 million copies.

As shared by Bloomberg reporter Takashi Mochizuki (via Twitter), Tekken publisher Bandai Namco recently held their latest investor call in which the company revealed lower-than-expected results – in particular due to the underperformance of its Japan-exclusive MMO Blue Protocol.

That said, one title which did not disappoint was Tekken 8, with the game having already sold over 2 million copies since its launch on the 26th of January, which according to the publisher is “better than we’d hoped for at this point.”

In late 2022, Bandai Namco announced that Tekken 7 had sold 10 million copies – making it the best selling entry in the series.

Considering the fact that Tekken 8 has had a much stronger launch reception-wise compared to its predecessor (with T8 currently resting at an impressive 90/100 on Metacritic), it’ll be curious to see just how quickly the game manages to catch up to Tekken 7 – and whether it will surpass it to become the best-selling game in the franchise. We will have to wait and see.

Elden Ring is well known and loved for many reasons. One of its more underrated aspects is the game’s soundtrack, which perfectly encapsulates the mix of fear, epicness and adventure that you’ll experience throughout your playthrough. In appreciation of the game’s soundtrack, publisher Bandai Namco have announced that the ‘Elden Ring Symphonic Adventure’ concert is coming to London.

Making the announcement on their website, publisher Bandai Namco said “ELDEN RING Symphonic Adventure is the official ELDEN RING concert presented by Bandai Namco Entertainment and FromSoftware, based on the innovative system ‘Narrative Symphonic Experience’ developed exclusively by Overlook Events.”

The symphony is said to be two hours long and will be “completely synchronized to the best moments from the multi-awarded video game of Hidetaka Miyazaki.”

Those who wish to experience the symphony will have to be quick on the draw, as only two performances are announced to be taking place in London – both on the 28th of February.

With “nearly 50 different compositions” being “shaped into long musical suites to keep the extraordinary musical journey feeling that every ELDEN RING player had, exploring the Lands Between,” fans of the game won’t want to miss out on this once in a lifetime experience.

Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown is the latest entry in the long-running combat flight simulation series. First released 5 years ago now for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, the game has surprisingly been announced to be coming to the Nintendo Switch.

In an interesting move by Bandai Namco, Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown has been announced for the aging Nintendo Switch. Set to launch on the 11th of July 2024, this portable port has been dubbed the ‘Deluxe Edition’ as it includes a whole bunch of DLC such as new aircrafts, skins and more.

First released back in 2019, the 18th of January marks Ace Combat 7’s 5th anniversary, and so while this announcement came as a great surprise, its timing was not random.

Ace Combat 7 is the best-selling entry in the series, with most recent figures putting the game at 5 million copies sold. It will be interesting to see just how many additional units are shifted thanks to the upcoming Switch port.

With well over 100 million Switch consoles out there, Ace Combat 7 has the potential to double its total sales more than half a decade after its initial launch.

Ahead of its launch on the 26th of January, Bandai Namco have started to rev up the marketing engine for Tekken 8, showing off many of the title’s game modes and announcing an upcoming free demo.

Announced via the PlayStation Blog, O’Dell Harmon Jr. – a Specialist for Content Communications at SIE – said “The Iron First tournament is coming to PS5. To prepare my mind, body, and soul for the occasion, I spent a few hours training with the latest build of Tekken 8. After trading blows with some of the world’s best across a variety of new modes, I can’t wait to earn my spot among the elite when the game launches on January 26. And if you can’t wait either, then I have good news. A demo will be coming to PS5 on December 14.”

Harmon Jr then goes on to detail the campaign-like ‘Arcade Quest’, the return of ‘Tekken Ball’, character customisation and the interesting ‘Super Ghost Battles’ “where AI learns your fight patterns in real time and begins to play more like you.”

Thanks to marketing deals and whatnot, PlayStation users will get to try out the demo a week early, with Xbox and PC players being given access from the 21st of December. That said, all versions of the demo will include the first chapter of the campaign, Arcade Quest and offline versus, meaning there will be plenty to sink your teeth into.

Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown is the latest entry in the long-running combat flight simulation series. With the game nearing its 5th anniversary, the team at Bandai Namco have now revealed that the title has officially sold over 5 million copies – making it by far the best-selling entry in the franchise.

Taking to Twitter to make the announcement, the team at Project Aces said (as translated by Google):

“Global sales of ‘ACE COMBAT 7: SKIES UNKNOWN’ have exceeded 5 million copies! To express our gratitude to all the ace pilots around the world, we are releasing a commemorative wallpaper. Thank you for your continued support!”

Ace Combat 7 was already the best-selling entry in the series, surpassing 2001’s Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies back in 2021. Since then, the game has only continued its reign of success, with previous figures putting the title at 4 million units sold by November of last year.

To see Ace Combat 7 sell an additional 1 million units in the past year is the mark of a truly successful entry with a great deal of legs. It will be interesting to see how many units will have sold by the time Ace Combat 8 eventually releases.

2023 has been an excellent year for fighting games, with two of the biggest franchises in the genre – Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter – both releasing their latest titles mere months from one another. Tekken 8 is now soon upon us, set to launch in January of next year. Interestingly, the game was originally planned to release right around the same time as Street Fighter VI – but was delayed due to them not wanting to clash with a “certain fighting game.”

Long-time Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada recently took to his YouTube channel ‘Harada’s Bar’ to upload a video labelled ‘It had the same release date as our rival's title!’ in which the series producer revealed that Tekken 8 was delayed by 6 months in order to not clash with a certain other fighting game, saying:

“I’m not gonna say what title it is, but we found out about it 2 years ago…That title’s release date happened to be the same as Tekken 8. We were like ‘What should we do?’ But there was not much we could do, so we decided to delay our release date by half a year. We changed the release date to January 26th. Yes, we changed it. It was on the same month. We needed to do something about it.”

In doing some quick maths, it is clear that Harada is referring specifically to the recently-released Street Fighter VI, which launched on the 2nd of June 2023. Considering the fact that Tekken and Street Fighter are two of the biggest franchises in the genre, it makes sense for Harada and the team to have delayed the game, as releasing so close to one another would have likely done more harm than good to both titles.

All that said, with 6 months of extra development time, it will be interesting to see how Tekken 8 ultimately benefits from the delay, both in terms of the game’s quality and its sales.

Humble Bundles are a great way for video game fans to acquire a number of high-quality titles for a relatively low price. Right now, in collaboration with Bandai Namco, you can get your hands on a rather meaty bundle – featuring games such as Tekken 7; Code Vein; Katamari Damacy; Tales of Vesperia and more for less than £10.

Available for the next three weeks, the Bandai Namco ‘Fights, Frights, and Fantasy’ bundle is only being offered in a single package (unlike most bundles which allow you to select different tiers for increasing amounts). That said, you’re getting a whole lot for very little, as paying just £8.22 will net you:

  • Tekken 7
  • Code Vein
  • Katamari Damacy REROLL
  • GOD EATER 3
  • Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition
  • .hack//G.U. Last Recode
  • PAC-MAN MUSEUM+
  • 25% off coupon for Tales of Arise
  • 50% off coupon for One Piece Odyssey

As always, a small portion of the proceedings from Humble Bundles go to charity, with this bundle supporting One Tree Planted – a non-profit focused on global reforestation in which every dollar donated plants one tree.

While only a portion of the money raised from the bundle goes to the charities, you can adjust the ratio of your contribution somewhat prior to purchasing, so keep that in mind if you do plan on buying it. From fighting games to souls-likes, JRPGs, arcade games and more, there seems to be a bit of something for everyone with this latest Humble Bundle.

The Dragon Ball series is undeniably one of the biggest franchises in anime, with its popularity translating to sales success on the video game front. One of the series’ most popular games in recent years has been Xenoverse 2. Despite being almost 7 years old at this point, the 3D fighter is set to get a bunch of new free content alongside a PS5 / Xbox Series patch,

Making the surprise announcement on Twitter, the official Dragon Ball Games page said “A Big Free update is coming on October 12, 2023! New events, new battle modes, and other features will be added to make DRAGON BALL Xenoverse 2 even more fun! The schedule for future updates is here! Stay tuned for a constantly evolving #DBXV2!”

Alongside the announcement, a roadmap was released, showing that these many updates will extend into 2024 with an additional scenario, additional playable characters and ‘other content’. Perhaps the most exciting revelation however is the fact that Xenoverse 2 will also be getting an update for current-gen systems at some point in 2024 – though no release window was provided otherwise.

Back in may of this year, Dragon Ball publisher Bandai Namco announced that Xenoverse 2 had sold over 10 million copies – making it one of the best-selling anime games of all time (only behind Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 4’s 12 million copies).

That said, considering the fact that Xenoverse 2 is set to get a whole bunch of new content, it would not be surprising to see the fighter eventually surpass Ultimate Ninja Storm 4. Hopefully the PS5 and Series X|S versions offer comprehensive upgrades.

Back in 2021, Nintendo announced and released Pac-Man 99, a Nintendo Switch Online exclusive Battle Royale which would see players take on 98 other competitors in a manner similar to that of other NSO titles such as Tetris 99 and the recently released F-Zero 99. While Pac-Man 99 has since had its servers shut down, the team at Bandai Namco have now announced their next take on the Battle Royale formula with the awkwardly-named Pac-Man Mega Tunnel Battle: Chomp Champs.

Coming to all consoles in Early 2024 (PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series XIS, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Steam) Pac-Man Mega Tunnel Battle: Chomp Champs is an online-only 64-player battle royale in which you must:

“Eat your way through multiple interconnected mazes using Power Pellets and a variety of Power Items to chomp the GHOSTS and opponent PAC-MAN players! Be the last PAC standing at the end of each match in this 64-player Battle Royale to be the Chomp Champ!”

Unlike Pac-Man 99, Mega Tunnel Battle: Chomp Champs appears to be much more of an active battle royale experience, with you being able to enter other players’ mazes and even directly chomp one another. As with all battle royales of course, you will also be able to acquire a plethora of skins and customisation options.

Interestingly, Pac-Man Mega Tunnel Battle: Chomp Champs is an expanded version of the Stadia exclusive which released back in 2020 (before ultimately being shut down in January of this year). It is exciting to see that the team are giving this formula another attempt, and with the game supporting cross-play, hopefully it will find a healthy player-base – assuming the price is right.

Tekken is one of the most iconic fighting game franchises, with the series even receiving a Guinness world record for having the “longest-running video game storyline without any substantial development gaps or reboots”. With Tekken 8 on the horizon, the team at Bandai Namco have revealed another major milestone achieved by the franchise – having now sold over 50 million copies.

In an interview conducted by Gamesindustry.biz, Bandai Namco Europe’s CEO ‘Arnaud Muller’ spoke on a number of topics ranging from Elden Ring to Little Nightmares. In discussing the upcoming Tekken 8, Muller revealed that the series had reached a new milestone, saying:

“And then [we have] a very small title called Tekken 8 which you may have heard of. [Tekken] has sold more than 50 million copies as an IP, and Tekken 7 sold ten million copies. So, it’s going to be great, it’s going to be big. [It] really takes the fighting genre to a new level… This is as good as it gets in terms of making the best of Unreal Engine, and being able to polish the game to a level where visually, it looks stunning. We have big expectations [for] Tekken 8.”

50 million copies sold puts Tekken roughly in-line with Street Fighter sales-wise, and while it falls short of some of its contemporaries such as Mortal Kombat and Super Smash Bros. (80 million and 70~ million respectively) it is still a massive achievement worth celebrating. It will be interesting to see how many copies Tekken 8 sells when it launches on the 26th of January next year.

Bandai Namco teased us with a first look at Tekken 8 a year ago but an official release date for the game has yet to be announced. Ahead of Gamescom Opening Night Live this evening, the Xbox store appears to have leaked the juicy details.

Twitter user Aggiornamenti Lumia, a regular Microsoft store dataminer who has revealed a number of leaks in the past, discovered that the Xbox Store was now listing a January 26th release date for Tekken 8. With Gamescom Opening Night Live set to air later today, it is likely that this release date is legitimate and an official announcement should be coming in a matter of hours.

Tekken 8 will usher in a new era for the long-running fighting game franchise. In fact, currently, Tekken holds the title for the longest-running story in a video game franchise.

Assuming the leak is accurate, as digital console store leaks often are, we'll be playing Tekken 8 in early 2024, giving the game plenty of distance from recent competitors like Street Fighter 6 and Mortal Kombat 1.

KitGuru Says: Given how long it has been since the initial reveal, I would have expected Tekken 8 in 2023. However, with a new Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat both also launching this year, I get why the date may have been pushed back a bit.

The music industry is notorious for having rather harsh copyright laws with a relatively recent example seeing Nintendo forcefully remove over 1000 songs from YouTube in 2022. Fortunately not every company takes this approach as we saw with Square Enix uploading over 5500 songs to its YouTube channel last year. Now, Bandai Namco is doing the same, bringing its library of music to YouTube for free.

As discovered by ResetEra user ‘–R’ Bandai Namco have opened up a new YouTube channel called ‘Bandai Namco Game Music’ which as of right now includes more than 1000 songs from across a whole host of franchises. Just some of the OSTs uploaded so far include:

  • Code Vein
  • Dark Souls
  • Elden Ring
  • Little Nightmares
  • Soul Calibur
  • Tales of Arise
  • Tekken
  • The Dark Pictures Anthology

The full 1000+ songs were dropped onto the channel at the same time, and so it is currently unknown when/if more music will be added. Regardless, the list of soundtracks available right now is already more than enough to sink your teeth into.

Video game soundtracks are just as important to the gaming experience as the actual gameplay itself, and so it is exciting and encouraging to see more publishers making their music available to all for free. Hopefully Nintendo follows suit.

During the heights of its popularity, Naruto was undeniably one of the biggest anime shows of its time, with dozens of games being made based on the IP. The Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm games saw particular success, with the latest entry in the series having officially become the best-selling anime game of all time.

As reported by the anime gaming news-focused ‘PS360HD2’ the 2016 fighting game Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 has officially sold over 12 million copies as of December 2022. This makes it the 3rd highest selling fighting game of the last generation (behind Super Smash Bros. Ultimate & Mortal Kombat 11).

Even more impressive however is the fact that Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 is now also the best selling anime game of all time (with Dragon Ball FighterZ and Xenoverse 2 both falling behind with 10 million copies each).

The Ultimate Ninja Storm series offers an arena-styled fighter with dozens or even hundreds of characters based on the franchise’s 20+ year history. Publisher Bandai Namco announced earlier this year that a new Ultimate Ninja Storm game is in the works.

Dubbed ‘NARUTO X BORUTO Ultimate Ninja STORM CONNECTIONS’ the game is said to include a mix of old and new content, seemingly setting the game up as being the definitive Ultimate Ninja Storm experience with over 120 characters. It will be interesting to see how Connections performs when it releases later this year.

Tokyo Game Show is a staple of the industry, with primarily Japanese developers taking to the event to reveal new games, offer updates on titles and more. Ahead of this year’s event (taking place in September), the full line-up of developers and publishers has now been revealed.

Tokyo Game Show is set to take place between the 21st and 24th of September and will be the biggest event in years. Matching the size of the event are the number of developers and publishers set to attend TGS. The full list is highly exhaustive and can be found HERE via a PDF, however some of the more notable attendees include:

  • Bandai Namco
  • Capcom
  • HoYoVerse
  • Koei Tecmo
  • Konami
  • Microsoft – Xbox
  • SEGA / Atlus
  • Square Enix

Kojima Productions will also be at TGS, however only in the merch area – meaning no new announcements. Sony will be present at the event to show off a bunch of indie games, but don’t expect any first-party announcements. Finally, Nintendo will be attending TGS, however their involvement is limited to the business area – so nothing the public will get to see unfortunately.

All that said, TGS 2023 looks set to be huge, and with or without Nintendo and Sony’s involvement we will hopefully get more than our fill of new game announcements.

With the increasing adoption of digital media, there is less and less of a need for physical gaming stores. That said, they can be quite fun – especially if they are dedicated to a single publisher. Such is the case with the upcoming ‘Bandai Namco Cross Store’ set to open in London next month.

As reported by Gamesindustry.biz, Bandai Namco has announced that they will be opening a dedicated store in London next month. Set to be located in Camden Market, the shops are said to be a “celebration of the physical market and Bandai Namco’s heritage as a worldwide entertainment company.”

The store will comprise six different shops and is described as an “interactive retail experience” where customers will be able to “see, touch and experience’ characters, products, events.”

The Bandai Namco Cross Store marks the first shop from the publisher to be built outside of Japan, marking a big moment for both Bandai Namco and UK-based fans. Speaking on the opening of this new store, the MD for Bandai Namco Amusement Europe – John McKenzie – said:

“Camden, London, is widely recognised as offering an eclectic mix of cultural products and art. It is the perfect location to launch our Bandai Namco Cross Store concept in the UK which combines our expertise in locations-based entertainment with a rapidly growing demand for IP and concepts originating from our group’s Japanese culture.”

With the release of Elden Ring last year we saw FromSoftware for the first time tackle open world game design – to great success. As such, it came somewhat as a surprise when the team revealed Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon would not be open world. The team has now explained why.

As translated by Exputer, FromSoftware devs recently took part in an interview pertaining to the upcoming mecha fighting game. In discussing the decision to not go open world with the game, Armored Core’s director Masaru Yamamura was asked “In the process of creating a wide field and battle, you must have thought about a different play method from the previous series, such as the open world, but is there a reason why it was maintained as a way to clear the story mission?”

In response, Yamamura claimed “In the process of developing the sequel, there was also an opinion to make it in a different game style. However, as a result of discussions, it was concluded that it should not be made into a title centered on movement and exploration, such as the Elden Ring or Soul series. In the Armored Core series, depending on the assembly, the movement performance of the character changes and affects the play. Because that is the charm of the series.”

They continued, “the charm of Armored Core that you can go even without a road is great. You will be able to see the style of dynamically moving a three-dimensional and high-level map as it is. I hope you enjoy these parts. I think you will be able to feel a different pleasure from exploring every nook and cranny of the carefully crafted map as you move.”

Just because Elden Ring went open world does not mean that all future FromSoftware titles must adopt a similar design. It is encouraging to see the team recognise this fact.

The Dragon Ball franchise has been producing video games for decades, creating many well-known and loved series, including the 3D fighter ‘Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2’ as well as the Arc System Works-developed Dragon Ball FighterZ. Speaking of, it has now been announced that both titles have sold over 10 million copies each.

Making the announcement on Twitter (and translated by the platform), the official Dragon Ball gaming account revealed that “Thanks to everyone who has supported us so far, both titles [Xenoverse 2 and FighterZ] have achieved 10 million units! To express our gratitude, we will hold a 10 million commemorative campaign from today!”

In going to their blog for additional details the team announced that “To celebrate the 10 million units shipped of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 worldwide, we're holding special raid events and campaigns! * Including the download version * BNE research. It will be a chance to get special costumes that will appear for the first time, so please join us!” The full list of commemorative events can be found HERE.

As an anime, Dragon Ball remains one of the most popular of all time – despite it first being published all the way back in 1984, and so it is not too surprising to see these titles selling so well. Tarsier Studios have historically been a rather small studio, focused primarily on assisting other studios with their games – having worked on DLC for the likes of Little Big Planet among others. Their breakout game came in the form of 2017’s Little Nightmares. The indie horror – and its sequel – seem to have done very well for the studio, as the two titles have in total sold over 12 million copies.

Making the announcement on their blog, Little Nightmares publisher Bandai Namco revealed the impressive figure, saying “Bandai Namco Europe announced today, on the sixth anniversary of Little Nightmares’ release, that its homegrown franchise has reached more than 12 million units sold.”

Speaking on this success, Bandai Namco Europe’s CEO Arnaud Muller said “The Little Nightmares franchise has seen some great growth and success since the first  episode, which was released 6 years ago today. We are proud of the work accomplished by the teams at Bandai Namco Europe along with Tarsier Studios, Engine Software and Supermassive Games to make great games while at the same time expanding the franchise to more media.”

Lucas Roussel, Publishing Director and Little Nightmares Executive Producer at Bandai Namco Europe added to this: “Looking [at] the community growing over the years has been a blessing. When we started Little Nightmares, we thought that we really had something special, but we are still amazed every day by our fans’ commitment to the franchise. We can’t thank them enough for their dedication and we are continuing to work on what’s next for the franchise.”

12 million copies sold is huge, especially for an indie series which has only seen two entries (and a mobile spin-off). It will be interesting to see how the team’s next game performs.

Nvidia has another GeForce Now update for us this week, which has more than a few surprises. As of today, Bandai Namco is partnering with Nvidia to bring its games to the cloud, including games like Get Even and the Little Nightmares series.

Aside from Little Nightmares and other Bandai Namco-published games, titles like MORDHAU will be joining GeForce Now this week, a release that is well-timed, as the game is currently free to claim on the Epic Games Store. If you claim it, you can connect your EGS account to your GeForce Now account and play it anywhere on almost any device with internet access.

Here is the full list of titles joining GeForce Now this week:

  • MORDHAU (New release on Epic Games Store, free on April 13)
  • DE-EXIT – Eternal Matters (New release on Steam, April 14)
  • 11-11 Memories Retold (Steam)
  • canVERSE (Steam)
  • Get Even (Steam)
  • Little Nightmares (Steam)
  • Little Nightmares II (Steam)

More titles will be heading to GeForce Now later this month, including day-one support for Dead Island 2, which is finally coming out after ten years in development.

Following the overwhelming success of FromSoftware’s SoulsBorne series of games we have seen a whole host of other developers tackle this relatively new subgenre with their own takes on the formula. One of the most prominent titles is Bandai Namco’s Code Vein. Released back in 2019, the anime Souls-like has now officially surpassed 3 million copies shipped.

Making the announcement on Twitter, the official Code Vein page said “#CodeVein has surpassed 3 million copies shipped worldwide, and it's all thanks to you. Dear Revenants, please enjoy this commemorative illustration to show our appreciation [seen below].”

While of course nowhere near as popular as the likes of Elden Ring (which has sold over 20 million copies), 3 million is certainly nothing to sniff at, especially when comparing it to other Souls-like contemporaries such as Mortal Shell (500,000 copies) or Remnant: From the Ashes (3 million copies).

Considering the fact that Bandai Namco publishes many of FromSoftware’s games, it was curious to see the publisher create their own Souls-like using an internal studio. That said, the game did manage to carve out its own niche thanks not only to its anime aesthetics but also due to a number of gameplay altering decisions – such as the inclusion of an AI co-op partner and more.

There is certainly enough space in the industry for more Souls-likes and so hopefully the success of Code Vein has warranted a bigger-budget sequel. We will have to wait and see.

If you grew up watching Dragon Ball Z in the late 90s and early 2000s, then chances are you have also played the Budokai Tenkaichi games. This series has been dormant for a long time but the time has finally come for a grand return.

Over the weekend, Toei Animation and Bandai Namco announced that a new Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi game is in the works, the first mainline entry in the series since 2007's Budokai Tenkaichi 3. While this new game is not officially titled Budokai Tenkaichi 4, this is the name most fans are using to refer to the project.

The trailer doesn't give away much, but it does confirm that this new game will take us into Dragon Ball Super territory. The previous games only covered Dragon Ball Z, and a couple of them included some GT-related content. In the trailer, we see Goku activating his Super Saiyan God mode, confirming that more recent story content will be included in this new game.

For years, the Budokai Tenkaichi series dominated Dragon Ball Z video games but we haven't seen a new entry since 2011's Ultimate Tenkaichi and one could argue that the last true game in the series was 2007's Budokai Tenkaichi 3, as Ultimate Tenkaichi was developed and shipped in Japan as part of the Raging Blast series. The name was changed in the West for marketing purposes.

The Budokai Tenkaichi games were best known for offering a lengthy story campaign that covered all the major events from the Dragon Ball Z anime and added extra content from the original Dragon Ball, the DBZ movies, Dragon Ball GT and other spin-offs. These games were also well-known for their massive character rosters.

There is no release date yet but the game is said to be in early development.

The Naruto series has entertained and engrossed fans both old and young for decades now, with the story of Naruto Uzumaki’s journey to become Hokage reaching millions upon millions of fans. While the mainline manga series ended all the way back in 2014, Naruto’s legacy continues with the Boruto sequel series. Still, we have seen very few Naruto games since the conclusion of the series, and so it is exciting to be finally getting a new game for current-gen consoles.

Announced during Sony’s most recent State of Play (and expounded upon through the PlayStation Blog), Naruto X Boruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections has been described as “the next entry in the series of Ultimate Ninja Storm” planned for release some time later this year.

The Naruto games have always had huge rosters, but this latest title will be taking it to the next level, featuring the 124 characters from Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 Road to Boruto while also including “additional new characters” – though few specifics were shared (but we do know of at least two new additions: Ashura Otsuki and Indra Otsuki).

Similarly, the situation surrounding the originality of the game’s story is somewhat unconfirmed, with Bandai Namco so far claiming that “Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm series illustrates Naruto’s story with anime shots and game battles that you can relive. This game combines and re-edits the selected scenes from the four Ultimate Ninja STORM games, brushing up graphics as much as possible, making it a must for players who have already experienced the series in the post.   Furthermore, a new original game story will also be available in the game. Please stay tuned for more information on that and other reveals ahead of launch!”

While it seems as though Naruto X Boruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections is not a wholly new game in its own right, the title seems to be more than a simple compilation or remaster, and so we will have to wait for more details to be shared closer to release. All that said, being able to play an Ultimate Ninja Storm game at 60fps on PS5 will be exciting regardless.

The Katamari series is a highly unique experience on pretty much all fronts: from the games’ stories to visuals, music, gameplay and more. Unfortunately, we have not seen a new mainline entry in over a decade. That said, following the surprise remaster of the first game in the series back in 2018, 2005’s We Love Katamari is now getting its own remaster for modern platforms.

Initially announced at the Nintendo Direct, We Love Katamari Reroll+ Royal Reverie is set to arrive on Nintendo Switch as well as the PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S (and of course PC) on the 2nd of June 2023.

Alongside the announcement, Bandai Namco published a press release offering additional information regarding what fans can expect from this upcoming remaster, saying “The new title will add quality-of-life enhancements and new modes such as Selfie Mode and Eternal Mode, which introduces casual play with no time limits.”

That is not all however, as the game will also launch with 5 new themed challenges which will see you take control of the quirky King of All Cosmos during his youth – alongside the addition of plenty of new collectibles to roll up.

While it would of course be nice to get a brand new Katamari game, remastering the old titles and bringing them to modern platforms with some new content is certainly appreciated – and thanks to the game’s unique quirks it has aged like fine wine.
